Emphatic wins by all four favourites

THE favourites all scored emphatic wins in Saturday’s seventh round of senior footy across the Bendigo Bank Loddon Valley FNL competition.

Closest margin of the afternoon was at Jackal Oval in Marong’s Malone Park where Marong defeated Maiden Gully YCW Eagles by 52 points.

The Panthers led 39-8 at quarter-time and 61-17 by the long break.

Marong then won the third term, 21-7, before the Eagles made a spirited fightback to score 5.1 as the Panthers added 3.7 in the last.

At the final siren Marong led 107-55.

Panthers’ co-coach Kain Robins kicked a match-high six goals as Michael Bradbury, captain Nathan Devanny and Ryley Taylor added two each.

The Eagles’ attack was led by co-coach Angus Monfries on three.

Best for Marong were Jimmy Gadsden, Kain Robins, Jai Gretgrix, Todd Davies, Nathan Devanny and Nathan Walsh.

The Panthers have Paul Thomson as non-playing co-coach.

Best for the Eagles were Grayson Brown, Bryce Franzini, Mitch Hill, Daniel Russell, Ed Crisp and Mitchell Lines.

Maiden Gully YCW has Shawn Filo as non-playing co-coach.

Inglewood marked an 89-point win on Calivil United’s turf in Calivil.

A closely-fought opening term ended with Inglewood in front, 14-9.

The Blues then scored 5.4 as they kept the Demons to a goal in the second.

Inglewood dominated most of the second half.

The Fergus Payne-coached Blues won the third term, 25-2, and the last, 45-12.

A list of Inglewood’s goalkickers and best players was not supplied.

Henry McCarthy led Calivil United’s attack on two goals.

Riley Walsh, Aidan Roulston, Jayden Leach, Will Hamilton, Lewis Fisher and Rhys Lourie were best for the Sam Maher-coached Demons.

Bears-Lagoon Serpentine won its clash with Mitiamo at Gadsden Finance Serpentine Reserve by 100 points.

The Bears led 60-30 at half-time.

Final hour of this contest was dominated by BLS as it scored 12 goals and kept the Superoos to a tally of 1.3.

The experience Josh Mellington gained from his stint with Fremantle Dockers was to the fore as he kicked 10 goals in the 139-39 victory by the Bears.

Farran Priest kicked five goals for the purple and gold as Nathan  Twigg added two.

There were no multiple goalkickers for Mitiamo.

Andy Gladman, Josh Mellington, Justin Laird, Callum Draper, Jaxon Addlem and Tyler Miles were best for the Jake Wiklkinson-coached Bears.

Mitiamo coach Luke Lougoon was best along with Ben Bradford, Zach Morrison, Ryan Duncan, Tyler Rasmussen and Anthony Huismann.

A six-goal haul by Oscar McKinley was a highlight of Bridgewater’s win against Newbridge at Deepcore Drilling Riverside Oval in Newbridge.

The Mean Machine charged to a 49-15 lead by quarter-time and then added 3.3 as it kept Newbridge to a score of 1.3 in the second.

Bridgewater showed it does not rely on coach Lachie Sharp to dominate every match.

This round it was Oscar McKinley with six goals as Sharp and Oliver Watt, four; Luke Ellings and and Harry McKinley, three, who capped off many of the moves in a 144-43 victory.

Newbridge’s leading goalkicker was Tyler Constable on two.

Best for Bridgewater was Oscar McKinley, Jack Neylon, Luke Ellings, Joseph Mayes, Jack Milligan and Joel Green.

Will Copland, Thomas Hobson, Jed Zimmer, Caleb Sanders, Jack Clark and Tyler Constable were best for a Newbridge team which is coached by Matt McArthur.

Pyramid Hill had the bye.

In next Saturday’s eighth round, Inglewood tackles Maiden Gully YCW Eagles at Inglewood’s Centre State Scaffolding Oval from 2.15pm.

Pyramid Hill faces Calivil United at Pyramid Hill’s Mitchell Park.

Mitiamo and Marong meet on the Superoos’ turf at Mitiamo’s John Forbes Oval.

Newbridge tackles Bears-Lagoon Serpentine at Deepcore Drilling Oval in Newbridge’s Riverside Oval.

Bridgewater has the bye.
