A SUCCESSFUL shot at goal after the siren by Nyah Nyah West United captain Dominic Gallo sealed another senior footy in the Radio 3SH Central Murray league on Saturday.
The Demons scored the last two goals of the match to claim a 77-74 win against Cohuna Kangas at Swan Hill Recreation Reserve.
As NNWU celebrates a fourth seniors grand final win the Kangas are left to rue what may have been their first in a competition it joined in 1997.
It had been one-all rolling into the grand final after the Jack Geary-coached Cohuna had beaten the Demons in qualifying final one by 15 points.
The Corey Daniels and Joel Walsh-coached Demons bounced back from what was its first defeat of the season to beat Hay and Woorinen in must-win finals.
On grand final day it was NNWU which led 16-13 at quarter-time.
The Demons were first to goal in the second, but the Kangas replied to make it 23-20 at eight minutes to go in the half.
Back-to-back goals gave NNWU a 15-point buffer, but Cohuna scored the next two goals.
A sixth goal of the half gave the Demons an 11-point lead by the long break.
Cohuna was first to goal in the third, but NNWU answered.
Consecutive goals put Cohuna in front, 52-50 at just under six minutes to play in the term.
Another goal by NNWU meant the red and blue led 57-53 going into the final quarter of the season.
The Kangas kicked the first goal of the last term.
NNWU was back in front, 65-60 at 7 ½ minutes to play.
Cohuna kicked the next two goals to lead 73-65.
The Demons turned up the heat and capitalised with two unanswered goals to complete a 77-74 victory.
Beau Schwarze slotted four goals for NNWU as Charlie Boulton, Corey and Riley Daniels, Alex Erlandson, Dominic Gallo, Jonathon Ross and Liam White added one each.
Daniel Coates led Cohuna’s attack on two goals as Corbin Anderson, Tyson Farrant, Charlie Ford, Hudson Fountain, Riley Hird, Joel Helman, Sam McGlone, Ricky Monti and Kain Robins were also on target.
Best for Nyah Nyah West United were Scott Carlin, Dominic Gallo, Zack Threadgold, Jaydyn Stirling, Nash Richman and Riley Daniels.
Cohuna Kangas’ best were Tom Toma, Chris Anderson, Lachlan English, Tyson Farrant, Travis Ford and Sam McGlone.

Mallee Eagles dominated the reserves clash with Swan Hill to win by 89 points.
The Eagles had a 13-2 record across the home-and-and away series and won qualifying final one against Swan Hill by 15 points.
A 76-point victory in the preliminary final against Ultima put Mallee into the grand final.
After the qualifying final loss the Swans bounced back to score a 67-30 victory against Lake Boga in semi-final one.
Swan Hill won preliminary final two against Nyah Nyah West United by nine points.
On grand final day it was the Eagles who led 14-1 at quarter-time and then scored six goals in the second term to be up 53-21 at the long break.
Mallee dominated the third, 34-2.
The Eagles added five goals in the last quarter to complete a 119-30 victory.
Mardy McDonald capped a great match with six goals as Brady Fordham and Ethan Pinchen chipped in with three each.
Other goalkickers for Mallee were Charlie Kingwill and Clem Miller on two each as Sean Bedggood and Jacob Wade added one.
The Swans’ attack was led by Shannon Polglase on two as Kayley Hartley and Jude Seymour were also on target.
Best for the Eagles were Brady Fordham, Liam Drummond, Ethan Pinchen, Mardy McDonald, Hayden Richards and Clem Miller.
Swan Hill’s best were Matthew Pearse, Harry Graham, Will Burns, Jett Hinton, Jude Seymour and Brodie Cochrane.
It was a 51-point victory for Swan Hill in the Colts clash with Tooleybuc Manangatang.
The Swans led 26-10 at quarter-time before the Saints struck back to win the second term, 26-16.
Quarter three was dominated by Swan Hill as it scored 5.5 and kept Tooleybuc Manangatang to a goalo.
Darcy Uebergang went on to kick three goals as Bodhi Kelly and Tyler Marold kicked two each in a 105-54 victory.
Other goalkickers for the Swans were Mitch Bannam, Sonny Beasy, Jaron Cardenas, Tyler D’Orsa, Clem Harris, Jimmy Kelly, Noah Pearson and Thomas Robertson.
The Saints’ attack was led by Landyn Jones and Jedd Morris with two goals each as Campbell Fisher, Connor Hazlett, Shaun Kirby and Rydar Morris, added a major.
Swan Hill’s best were Lane Cardenas, Sam Brown, Thomas Robertson, Sonny Beasy, Noah Pearson and Mitch Bannam.
Rydar Morris, Campbell Fisher, Oaklea Bird, Connor Hazlett, Shaun Kirby and Julian Muir were Tooleybuc Manangatang’s best.
Grand final day kicked off with the Mildura Health Fund under-15s match between Swan Hill and Lake Boga.
In the battle of the Swans and Magpies it was Swan Hill which won 34-9.
Despite an inaccurate score of 1.6, Swan Hill led 12-2 at half-time.
The Swans added 1.5 and kept Lake Boga scoreless in the third quarter.
The Magpies goaled in the last off the boot of Zac Everett, but the Swans controlled a lot of the play on their way to a 25-point triumph.
Goalkickers for Swan Hill were Henry Cox, Ethan Germaine and Tallen Hinton.
The Swans’ best were Jace Lloyd, Henry Cox, Zach Robertson, Finn Hufer, Ryder Wilkins and Hugh Angus.
Matthew Haines, Jett Dedini, Zac Everett, Jagger Mobilio, Lane Lynas and Ethan Clarke played well for the Magpies.
