GOLDEN Square’s teams were in sparkling form across the weekend’s action in the Bendigo Junior Football League.
The Bulldogs are fielding nine teams from under-12s to under-16s.
It was round three in the home-and-away series for the under-12 Girls teams.
Golden Square moved to 12 premiership points and third place on the ladder following a 99-6 win against Marong Yellow at Golden Square’s Wade Street oval.
Bulldogs’ captain Sophie Lethlean kicked four goals as Emily Curnow, Molly Dang and Elleah Gray chipped in with two each.
Best for the blue and gold were Makayla Soko, Ruby Carter, Sophie Lethlean, Matilda Sobey, Molly Dang and Stella Tully.
In week three of grading, Golden Square had a closely-fought match with Sandhurst B in the under-15 Girls match at Wade Street.
The Sandhurst team won 23-17as Alyssa Brew kicked both of Golden Square’s goals.
Best for the blue and gold were Annabelle Carr, Laylah Walsh, Alyssa Brew, Samiah Gray and Shanna Carter.
In under-12 Mixed grading, Golden Square won a great contest with St Francis on St Francis Oval.
The Bulldogs fought from two goals down at the start of the last quarter to claim a 51-43 victory.
Lewis Harrington led Golden Square’s attack on three goals.
Best for the Bulldogs were Cooper Smith, Jack Everett, Henry Morton, Logan Shatwell, Archer Keighran and Conor Elliott.
Golden Square (2) took on Marong Blue at Wade Street.
The Panthers from Marong won 22-2.
Best for Golden Square were Liam Donnelly, Mason Torossian, Nixon Shiels, Levi Gunn, Ryan Davies and Kalum Love.
Golden Square (3) was also on home turf at Wade Street against Kangaroo Flat.
The Kangaroos led 17-12 at half-time and 30-28 at a quarter to play.
The Roos won the last, 14-0, to complete a 44-28 victory.
Goalkickers for Golden Square were Charlie Burzacott, Xavier Gavin, Hunter Moemai and Harvie Quinlan.
Best for the Bulldogs were Ryan McKenzie, Archer Rielley, Charlie Burzacott, Hunter Moemai, Xavier Gavin and Harvie Quinlan.
Golden Square (1) scored 24 goals in the under-14 Mixed match with Strathfieldsaye (2) on Enterprise Oval in Strathfieldsaye’s Tannery Lane.
Harley Nelson slotted six goals and Beau Blythman booted four goals in the 161-19 victory.
Other multiple goalkickers were Byron Martin and Sean Maher on two.
Best for the Bulldogs were Nate Bishop, Harley Nelson, Beau Blythman, Byron Martin, Archer Lethlean and Rheef Norman.
Golden Square (2) kicked clear in the last quarter to score a 78-44 win against Sandhurst B at White Hills.
The Bulldogs led 56-43 at three quarter-time and then scored 3.4 in the final term.
Leading goalkickers for the blue and gold were Aidan Keena on three, and Blake Goodes and Thomas Pluck on two.
Best for Golden Square were Aidan Keena, Declan Bonnici, Riley Whitehead, Max Haw, Chase May and Xavier O’Grady.
It a roller-coaster of emotions for players and fans at the under-16 Boys match between Golden Square (1) and South Bendigo (1) at Harry Trott Oval in Kennington.
The Bulldogs charged to a 32-2 lead by quarter-time before the Bloods fought back to win the second term, 22-2.
South Bendigo then scored 5.4 as it kept the Dogs to tally of 1.2 in the third quarter.
The Bulldogs then lifted their run and skills to dominate the last quarter.
As Square slotted four goals it kept the Bloods to just one major.
At the final siren the Bulldogs led 70-64.
Jake Rosa and Xavier Stone led Square’s attack on two goals each.
Best for Golden Square were Baxter Donnellon, Jack Allen, Billy Buhagiar, Jake Rosa, William Donnelly and Logan Wilson.
Golden Square (2) faced Strathfieldsaye (2) at Triple M Park in Strathfieldsaye.
The Storm line-up charged to a 34-nil lead by quarter-time and then scored six, six and five goals across the next three quarters on the way to a 150-15 result.
Goalkickers for Golden Square were Romulus Milsom and Tynan Thomas.
Best for the Bulldogs were Vailen Hickman, Jack Frankel, Kirk Garley, Tynan Thomas and Sam Morgan.
