Murrabit charges clear on its court against Ultima
AFTER a closely-fought first half, Murrabit charged clear in the second to beat Ultima in Saturday’s 14th round of A-grade netball in the Golden Rivers Football Netball League season.
The Murrabit team led 19-14 at the main break and then won the third term, 15-7.
Ultima worked hard in the last to score 10 goals, but Murrabit added 15 to complete a 49-31 victory.
The Murrabit attack was led by Lauren Morrow, 25; and Grace Gillingham, 24.
Jenna Jenkins scored 20 goals for Ultima as Grace Farrell added 11.
Murrabit’s best was Mary Yates-Ward as Jenna Jenkins was best on court for Ultima.
The second-placed Nullawil dominated play on Moulamein’s court.
Gemma Fawcett was in hot form as she scored 52 goals in a 78-26 result for Nullawil.
Goalscorers for Moulamein were Ayuen Manyang 12, Emily Fasham 10, and Gemma Miller 4.
Macorna took the points in a 52-31 victory on Hay’s court.
The Macorna attack was led by Emmerson Simpson 26, Emmalea Wishart 12, Brielle O’Meara 11, and Kaitlyn Wishart 3.
Hay’s leading goalscorer was Ellen Jamieson on 21.
Wandella marked a 42-34 victory on Quambatook’s court.
Standings in the Golden Rivers FNL A-grade netball competition:
Murrabit 150 per cent, 56 points; Nullawil 160, 44; Macorna 125, 34; Quambatook 118, 32; Ultima 107, 30; Hay 56, 12; Wandella 74, 8; Moulamein 65, 8.
The second-last round of the home and away series will be played this Saturday.
Quambatook is at home to take on Nullawil in the clash of fourth and second.
Wandella hosts Hay.
Ultima and Moulamin meet on Ultima’s court.
Macorna and Murrabit feature in the match between third and first at Macorna Recreation Reserve.
