Tigers eye victory on Ultima’s turf
THE Macorna Tigers will be eyeing a hard-fought victory on Ultima’s ground in the 10th round of senior footy across the Golden Rivers on Saturday.
It’s fourth against second as Macorna makes it way to Ultima for a 2.25pm clash on the Kangaroos’ turf.
When these clubs met in round five it was Ultima which marked a 104-49 win at Macorna.
A win-loss tally of seven-two has the Roos in second place in the premiership race.
The Kangaroos are on the rebound from a 10-point loss at Hay last round.
Ultima will start favourite to take the points against the Tigers again.
Players to watch for the Kangaroos include Quinn Grey, Cameron Johnson, Ed Kuchel and Mitch Makepeace.
A talented attack is led by Ryan Devereux, Matt Taverna, Lincoln Frost and Ricky Wild.
Massive test for Macorna which claimed a 10-point win at home against Moulamein last round.
In-form players for the yellow and black include Travis Mercadante at half-back, rover Malcolm Neiwand, Lachlan Ritchie in attack, and Sam Whinfield.
It’s third against first as Wandella hosts Hay in the Bombers’ hangar at Wandella Recreation Reserve.
Back in round five the Lions charged to a 10-goal win against the red and black.
Wandella’s run across June was three wins and a defeat.
The Bombers won at Murrabit by 22 points last Saturday as Kaine O’Connell, Russell Rich, Archer Lancaster and Michael Rowe led the way.
Wandella’s line-up to tackle the Lions includes Jonty Taylor, Darren Rushton and Jarred Schlitz.
Hay’s unbeaten streak hit nine following last Saturday’s triumph against Ultima by 10 points.
Players to watch for Hay include Jensen Hargreaves, Jim Houston, captain Kenneth Jubb and Declan Watson.
It’s the Swans against the Blues as Moulamein hosts Murrabit.
A point separated these teams in round five as the Blues won 65-64 at Moulamein.
Both teams are locked on one-eight records.
Key players for Moulamein include rover Trae Atkinson, Xander Hartland and Cody Storm across half-forward, Ely Miller at centre half-forward, and ruckman Heath Moloney.
Co-captains Nathan O’Toole and Ben Gillingham were the Blues’ best in the clash with Wandella.
Murrabit’s team to tackle the Swans includes Jordan Lampi, Sam Copland, Jack Shannahan, Patrick Bryan and Rhys Carmichael.
