Ultima prepares to tackle Wandella

A SHOWDOWN between the Kangaroos and Bombers at Ultima highlights this Saturday’s round 12 action in the Golden Rivers senior footy season.

It’s second against third as Ultima takes on Wandella at Ultima Recreation Reserve from 2.25pm.

The Kangaroos will start favourite to mark their 10th win of the season.

In round seven Ultima scored an 80-point win against the red and black.

Ultima’s team for this round includes Ryan Featherby, Jayden Kiel, Ryan Devereux, Thomas Bull, Matt Taverna, captain Jake Foster, and Ed Kuchel.

Wandella will need big games from the likes of Russell Rich, Logan Keighran, Tim Robinson, Darren Rushton, Laing Waddingham, Michael Rowe and Tanner Treacy to upset the Roos in this contest.

Fourth faces fifth as Macorna hosts Murrabit.

When these clubs met in round seven it was Macorna which won by seven goals.

The Tigers fought on to score a 78-75 victory at Wandella last Saturday.

Key players for Macorna include co-captains Lachlan Thompson and Laing Whinfield, Travis Mercadante, Josh Macpherson, Malcolm Neiwand, Hunter Anset and Harley Somerville.

It’s been a tough season for Murrabit which has a two-nine record.

Latest hit-out for the Blues ended in a 119-point loss at Hay.

Best for Murrabit in that match were Jack Shannahan, Jordan Lampi, Nathan O’Tooley and Austin McKerrow.

The unbeaten Hay is at home to take on Moulamein.

Massive challenge for the Swans in the Lions’ den.

When these clubs met in round seven it was Hay which won 82-29 on Moulamein’s turf.

A powerful line-up for the Lions includes Jack Cattanach in the centre, Kenneth Jubb and Dean Aylett in attack, Jim Houston in the ruck, Brad Pocock and James Eddy in defence.

Moulamein will look to Heath Moloney, ruckman Hunter Hartland, Cody Storm and Will Gibson in defence, and centreman Andrew May to put the Lions under a high level of pressure.
