Blues outplay Tigers at Murrabit
THE Murrabit Blues marked a 22-point victory against Macorna in Saturday’s second round of senior footy in the Golden Rivers FNL season.
After just two wins in the ’23 season, Murrabit marked its first home game of ’24 by marking an 84-62 result against the Tigers.
Murrabit led 45-30 at half-time and 60-40 at a quarter to play.
A high-scoring final term went the Blues way, 24-22.
Murrabit co-captain Nathan O’Toole kicked four goals in a best on ground performance.
Other multiple goalkickers for the Blues were co-captain Ben Gillingham, Liam Holt-Fitz and Jordan Lampi on two.
The Tigers’ attack was led by Tristan McIntosh, three, and Koby Gibson, two.
Best for Murrabit were Nathan O’Toole, Toby Gray, Dean Harrop, Jordan Lampi, Jack Shannahan and Tobie Cameron.
Travis Mercadante, Sam Whinfield, Fergus Bear, Josh Berryman, Hunter Anset and Johnny Dawes were Macorna’s best.
Hay dominated play at Moulamein.
The Lions led 28-1 at quarter-time and did not let up as they won the next two quarters, 19-14 and 15-8.
Jim Houston went on to kick four goals as Jack Bone, three; Jack Cattanach and Kenneth Jubb were on target with two each.
At the final siren, Hay led 92-24.
Heath Moloney booted two goals for Moulamein.
Best for the Lions were Jack Cattanach, William Collis, Brad Pocock, Kenneth Jubb, Jayden Kinces and Joel Crocker.
Andrew May, Kaylem Hartley, Morgan Turvey, Ethan Fitzpatrick, Trae Atkinson and Ely Miller were best for the Swans.
Ultima won a high-scoring match at Wandella.
The Kangaroos scored 21.12 (138) as the Bombers reached 11.10 (76).
Ryan Devereux kicked six goals for the Roos as Matt Taverna added three.
Other multiple goalkickers for Ultima were Bailey Codling, Billy Delmenico, Darcy Farrell and Jacob Schaper on two.
Justin Robinson kicked a match-high seven goals for Wandella as Adam Ward added two.
Ultima’s best were Billy Delmenico, Darcy Farrell, Thomas Bull, Ricky Wild, Caillum Brady and Jamie Nicholas.
Justin Robinson, Russell Rich, Tim Robinson, Nathan Boysen, Logan Keighran and Jack Radcliffe played well for the red and black.

In next Saturday’s third round, Macorna is at home to take on Hay.
Ultima tackles Murrabit on the Kangaroos’ ground at Ultima Recreation Reserve.
Wandella hosts Moulamein in the Bombers’ hangar.
