GRFNL Round 2 Football Review | Swans outplay Tigers at Macorna

BY NATHAN DOLE

MOULAMEIN took charge in the second half to score a big win against Macorna in Saturday’s second round of senior footy in the Golden Rivers Football Netball League.

It was Macorna which made a great start at home to lead 22-10 at quarter-time and 41-35 by the long break.

After an inaccurate first half in which it scored 4.11, Moulamein added 5.2 and kept the Tigers to just two points in the third term.

Andy Silva went on to kick a match-high five goals as Daniel Aarsman, Lochlan Prentice and Khy Stovell added two each in a 106-69 result.

The Tigers’ attack was led by captain Malcolm Neiwand, three; Troy Parker and Josh Walters, two.

Moulamein’s best were Amos Farrell, Nathan Buckley, Morgan Turvey, Luke Shannon, Andy Silva and Kaylem Hartley.

Toby Whinfield, Jack Featherby, Malcolm Neiwand, Lachlan Ritchie, Grady Smith and Michael Roberts were Macorna’s best.

Hay marked an impressive win on Murrabit’s turf.

The Lions led 34-29 at quarter-time and then scored 5.5 to 2.2 in the second.

Although former Brisbane Lions and Essendon forward Damian Cupdio would kick a match-high five goals for Murrabit, it was Hay which had all the answers.

A tally of 18 goals by the Lions was led by Fergus Cattanach, three; Simon Bunyan, Jensen Hargreaves and Liam Whitbourne on three each.

Hay’s best were Fergus Cattanach, Jayden Kinces, Brad Pocock, Dom Booth, Dean Aylett and Daniel Stewart.

Dustin Blake, Sean Gillen, Tobie Cameron, Darcy Gillen, Nathan O’Toole and Mitchell Laursen were best for the Blues.

Ultima marked a 50-point win at home against Wandella.

The Kangaroos led 66-28 at half-time and 108-58 at the final siren.

Jack Delmenico and Ryan Devereux kicked three goals each for Ultima.

Wandella’s multiple goalkicker was Mitch Collins on two.

Best for the Kangaroos were Jack Fletcher, Will Nelson, Jamie Nicholas, Thomas Bull, Zac Cattlin and Mitch Makepace.

Tim Robinson, Russell Rich, Lee Pollock, Darren Rushton, Archer Lancaster and Ricky Cathie were best for the Bombers.
