Lions to play Tigers at Hay

IT’S the clash of the Lions and Tigers as Hay meets Macorna in Saturday’s eighth round of senior footy in the Golden Rivers competition.

Teams are back in action after a general bye for the King’s Birthday holiday weekend.

Unbeaten as it chases back-to-back premierships, Hay will start favourite on home turf.

A big showdown between first and third starts at 2.25pm.

Both line-ups were in fine form in the seventh round.

Hay won at Moulamein by 53 points and Macorna marked a 94-52 victory at home against Murrabit.

Back in round three it was Hay which won at Macorna by 13 goals.

The Macorna line-up bound for Hay includes co-captains Lachlan Thompson and Laing Whinfield, Travis Mercadante, Lachlan Ritchie, Malcolm Neiwand, Xavier Wishart and Josh Berryman.

Murrabit is on home turf against Ultima.

Will be a tough test for the Blues against the second-placed Kangaroos.

When these clubs met in round three it was Ultima which marked a 112-25 victory at home.

The Blues will be keen to compete after a seven-goal loss at home against Macorna in round seven.

Murrabit will need big games from the likes of ????

Ultima capped its latest hit-out with Wandella by scoring an 80-point victory.

Key players for the Kangaroos include Ryan Devereux, captain Jake Foster, Mitch and Tyler Makepeace, Jye Purtill, Matt Taverna and Ricky Wild.

Wandella will eye a chance to move back into the top four by winning its home game against Moulamein.

The Bombers must beat the Swans and also need Hay to defeat Macorna.

In round three Wandella beat Moulamein by 65 points in the Bombers’ hangar at Wandella Recreation Reserve.

The Bombers and Swans were both beaten in round seven.

Wandella’s best for most of this season have included Justin Robinson, 20 goals in seven matches, and Adam Ward.

The Bombers team for Saturday includes Russell Rich, Tim Robinson, Jarred Schlitz, Jonty Taylor and Connor Wilson.

Moulamein will look to Xander Hartland, Rodney Reeves, Will Gibson, Morgan Turvey, James White, Heath Moloney and Andrew May to lead the way to victory.
