MOULAMEIN overcame a two-goal deficit at half-time to score a 39-35 win at home against Murrabit in Saturday’s A-grade netball clash to start the Golden Rivers Football Netball League season.
The Swans were down 19-21 at the main break, but then struck back to win the third term, 9-5.
A closely-fought final quarter went Moulamein’s way, 11-9.
Meg-Jordyne Rooney led the Swans’ attack on 20 goals.
Goalers for Murrabit were Grace Gillingham, 21; and Lauren Morrow, 14.
A strong second half play a big part in a 10-goal win for Macorna at Wandella.
The Tigers led 17-14 at half-time and then upped the pressure in the second for a 36-26 victory.
Asela Finch scored a game-high 29 goals for Macorna.
Hay worked hard to be within 11 goals of the powerful Ultima line-up at half-time of their clash on Hay’s court.
After the main break it was Ultima which scored 28 goals and held the Lions to 13.
The Kangaroos led 52-25 at the final whistle in a match where Grace Farrell scored 29 goals.
Standings in the Golden Rivers FNL’s A-grade netball competition:
Ultima 208 per cent, 4 points; Macorna 138, 4; Moulamein 111, 4; Murrabit 89, 0; Wandella 72, 0; Hay 48, 0.
In next Saturday’s second round, Ultima is at home against Wandella.
Murrabit will aim to captailise on home-court advantage against Hay.
Macorna and Moulamein meet in the clash of second and third in Tigers’ territory at Macorna Recreation Reserve.
