White Hills breaks Elmore’s winning streak

WHITE Hills has ended Elmore’s winning streak on 23 matches after Saturday’s 14th round of A-grade netball in the Bendigo Bank Heathcote District Football Netball League.

The Lauren Bowles-coached White Hills played exceptional netball across all four quarters to win a high-scoring contest on Elmore’s court.

A showdown between the league’s top two capped the league’s 60th anniversary of Heathcote District netball.

Goal attack Alyssa Cole played a starring role in a 66-57 victory by White Hills.

In round five, Elmore won by seven goals in the Demons’ den at Scott Street.

This time it was the Demons who made a hot start  to lead by nine goals at quarter-time.

Elmore fought back strongly to be within two goals late in the match, but it was White Hills which finished the stronger to score a confidence-lifting win in a match that featured the likely grand finalists.

Mount Pleasant was too strong for Huntly at Toolleen.

The Blues won 56-36 to strengthen their position on the third rung.

Colbinabbin scored a 45-33 win at home against Heathcote.

Leitchville-Gunbower marked its fourth win of the season after a hard-fought 54-50 result at North Bendigo’s Hibo Hotel Oval in Atkins Street.

Best on court medal winners were Chantal Moore (Mount Pleasant), Gemma Angove (Leitchville-Gunbower) and Tanzin Myers (Colbinabbin).

Lockington Bamawm United had the bye.

 

Standings in the Heathcote DFNL’s A-grade netball competition:

White Hills 168 per cent, 48 points; Elmore 162, 44; Mount Pleasant 104, 32; Colbinabbin 96, 24; Huntly 81, 20; Lockington Bamawm United 88, 16; Heathcote 87, 16; Leitchville-Gunbower 86, 16; North Bendigo 58, 8.

 

In next Saturday’s round 15 action, Lockington Bamawm United plays Mount Pleasant at Lockington.

Heathcote and Elmore clash on the Saints’ court at Barrack Reserve.

Huntly faces North Bendigo in the Hawks’ home at Strauch Reserve.

Leitchville-Gunbower and Colbinabbin clash on the Bombers’ court at Leitchville.

White Hills has the bye.
