Bombers soar into top five after beating Hoppers

LEITCHVILLE-GUNBOWER soared from the eighth rung to fifth after a brilliant win against Colbinabbin in Saturday’s 15th round of A-grade netball in the Bendigo Bank Heathcote District Football Netball League.

The Bombers took on the fourth-placed Colbinabbin at Gunbower.

The Lauren Dehne-coached Leitchville-Gunbower dominated the final term to seal a 50-42 victory.

The Bombers have won four of their past six matches and a chance to play finals.

The run home for the LG line-up is Elmore, away; White Hills, home; and Heathcote, away.

Mount Pleasant locked up third place and a double chance at finals time as it scored a 57-38 win on Lockington Bamawm United’s court.

It was a dramatic finish to the Huntly and North Bendigo match at Huntly’s Strauch Reserve.

The Shellie Davies-coached North Bendigo had Collingwood Magpies training partner Zoe Davies take to the court.

The Bulldogs won 39-38 and showed they could play a key role in determining who does make the final five.

Heathcote worked hard on its court at Barrack Reserve against an Elmore team on the rebound from defeat.

The Saints were beaten 55-46 by the Bloods.

White Hills had the bye.

 

Standings in the Heathcote DFNL’s A-grade netball competition:

White Hills 168 per cent, 48 points; Elmore 158, 48; Mount Pleasant 107, 36; Colbinabbin 95, 24; Leitchville-Gunbower 87, 20; Huntly 82, 20; Heathcote 86.9, 16; Lockington Bamawm United 86.6, 16; North Bendigo 62, 12.

 

In next Saturday’s 16th round, Colbinabbin plays Huntly at M.J. Morgan Reserve in Colbinabbin.

Elmore hosts Leitchville-Gunbower.

North Bendigo and Lockington Bamawm United clash at Hibo Hotel Oval in North Bendigo’s Atkins Street.

White Hills meets Heathcote at Scott Street in White Hills.

Mount Pleasant has the bye.
