Who snares fifth place to be decided in final round
JUST who takes fifth place on the A-grade netball ladder is still up for grabs after Saturday’s 17th round in the Bendigo Bank Heathcote District Football Netball League season.
Although it was on the sidelines because of the bye, Heathcote can still make the finals after Lockington Bamawm United, Leitchville-Gunbower and Huntly were all beaten in Saturday’s showdowns.
Heathcote is a win behind LBU, LG and Huntly who all have 5-10 records, but the Saints have the best percentage.
In round 18, Heathcote is on its court at Barrack Reserve for a crucial showdown with Leitchville-Gunbower.
The LG Bombers will be on the rebound from a 54-30 loss on the Gunbower court to White Hills.
An 84-25 win by Elmore on Huntly’s court at Strauch Reserve put the Bloods back on top of the ladder.
In the race for top spot, Elmore and White Hills have 14-1 records, with the Bloods just .34 per cent clear of the Demons.
Lockington Bamawm United was beaten by nine goals in Saturday’s home game with Colbinabbin.
The 56-47 win by the Lisa Myers-coached Colbinabbin ensured the Grasshoppers of fourth place and an elimination final showdown which could be against LBU, Leitchville-Gunbower, Huntly or Heathcote.
At Toolleen, Mount Pleasant sealed third place and a double chance for the finals in a 57-48 win against North Bendigo.
The Blues were determined to take the points after North Bendigo had beaten them by five goals at Hibo Hotel Oval in round eight.

In the final round of the home and away series, Heathcote and Leitchville-Gunbower clash at Heathcote’s Barrack Reserve.
Elmore and Lockington Bamawm United meet on Elmore’s court.
Colbinabbin plays Mount Pleasant at M.J. Morgan Reserve in Colbinabbin.
White Hills is at home to play the neighbouring Huntly at Scott Street.
North Bendigo has the bye.
