Bombers, Blues win by narrow margins
LEITCHVILLE-GUNBOWER and Mount Pleasant won closely-fought contests in Saturday’s 12th round of A-grade netball in the Bendigo Bank Heathcote District Football Netball League.
The LG line-up celebrated its third victory of the season as the Bombers won 41-39 on Lockington Bamawm United’s court.
Mount Pleasant moved back into the top three and the coveted double chance for the finals after a four-goal win at home against Heathcote on the Toolleen court.
The Blues and Saints were both on the rebound from defeat.
Scores were level at quarter-time before the Saints led by a small margin at the main break.
The Carine Comer-coached Mount Pleasant showed great composure to limit turnovers in the last five minutes of the contest to clinch a 41-37 victory.
The Blues and Saints have fought out two great matches this season.
In round three, Mount Pleasant won by two goals on the Saints’ court at Barrack Reserve.
The second-placed White Hills marked a 43-goal win on North Bendigo’s court at Hibo Hotel Oval in Atkins Street.
The Lauren Cowling-coached White Hills has a 10-1 record.
Sole defeat to the Demons was to the unbeaten Elmore in the fifth round.
Elmore and Colbinabbin had a rest on Saturday.
Both teams met in the season opener on April 2 which Elmore won 55-41 on Colbinabbin’s court at M.J. Morgan Reserve.

Elmore 173 per cent, 44 points; 175, 40; White Hills 175, 40; Mount Pleasant 96, 24;
Colbinabbin 98, 20; Lockington Bamawm United 88, 16; Huntly 80, 16; Heathcote 86, 12; Leitchville-Gunbower 85, 12; North Bendigo 55, 8.
A highlight of next Saturday’s round 13 action will be White Hills against Colbinabbin at Scott Street.
Heathcote takes on North Bendigo at Barrack Reserve.
Leitchville-Gunbower faces Mount Pleasant at Gunbower Recreation Reserve.
Huntly and Lockington Bamawm United meet at Huntly’s Strauch Reserve.
Elmore has the bye.
