Bloods tie contest with White Hills

A DRAWN match between Elmore and Winslow White Hills Demons highlighted the 15th round of the Bendigo Bank Heathcote DFNL’s A-grade netball action on Saturday.

The league’s premiers of the past two seasons played out a high-scoring match on Elmore’s court at Elmore Recreation Reserve.

Players faced gusty conditions all afternoon.

It was the Allira Holmes and Gabe Richards-coached Elmore which charged to a 13-10 lead by quarter-time.

White Hills fought back to win the second term, 14-12.

Scores were locked on 38-all going into the final quarter.

At the final siren the scoreboard showed both teams on 53 goals.

The Lauren Bowles-coached White Hills ended the round six points clear of Colbinabbin in the fight to grab top spot and through to the second semi-final.

Leitchville Gunbower was too strong for Heathcote at Leitchville.

The Caitlyn Hamilton-coached LG handled the blustery conditions much better than the Saints.

By three quarter-time the Brooke Bolton and Kelsey Hayes-coached Heathcote had eight goals in the board.

Heathcote lifted to win the last term, 15-9, but it was the Bombers who took the points in a 33-23 victory.

Both teams are likely to meet in the elimination final on August 18.

Colbinabbin dominated its match with Mount Pleasant on the Grasshoppers’ court at M.J. Morgan Oval.

The Jen McIntyre-coached Grasshoppers showed they will again be right in the race for the premiership as they netted a 66-36 victory against the Blues.

It was another tough hit-out for the Anthea McCleary-coached Mount Pleasant against the green and gold.

The Harlowe Huntly Hawks turned a three-goal deficit at the start of the final term into a one-goal win on North Bendigo’s court at Bendigo Club Oval in Atkins Street.

Huntly led 8-6 at quarter-time before the Kiralee Kinder and Stacey Kingdon-coached North Bendigo took charge to win the next term, 12-7.

Both teams scored nine goals in the third.

The Kym Bell-coached Hawks finished strongly to score 11 goals as it held the red, white and blue to a tally of seven goals in the last term.
