Demons dominate clash with Elmore

THE Winslow White Hills Demons dominated the A-grade netball clash with Elmore in Saturday’s sixth round of the Bendigo Bank Heathcote DFNL season.

White Hills was on its court at Winslow Constructors Oval to play the Bloods.

The Lauren Bowles-coached Demons made a brilliant start to the contest between the premiers of the past two seasons.

White Hills led 19-9 at quarter-time and its energy and run did not let-up.

The Demons charged to a 17-goal lead by half-time and were up, 57-23 at a quarter to play.

Elmore kept working hard, but White Hills was too slick through mid-court and strong in attack and defence.

After winning every quarter, White Hills marked a 71-33 victory to show it’s going to be tough to stop in its run at back-to-back premierships.

The Demons make their way to Gunbower next Saturday to play Leitchville-Gunbower.

Elmore went into the match without co-coach and gun goaler Gabe Richards as she was overseas.

A team jointly coached by Allira Holmes will be keen to bounce back in round seven against the Harlowe Huntly Hawks at home.

North Bendigo broke through for its first victory of the season.

It was a closely-fought contest between the Harlowe Huntly Hawks and North Bendigo across the opening three quarters at Huntly’s Strauch Reserve.

The Kym Bell-coached Hawks led 11-9 at quarter-time.

North Bendigo hit back to win the second term, 13-8.

The Bulldogs team jointly coached by Kiralee Kinder and Stacey Kingdon held a four-goal buffer going into the final quarter.

In the last the red, white and blue netted 18 goals and held the brown and gold to a tally of six.

At the final siren North Bendigo led 49-33.

The Bulldogs are home at Bendigo Club Oval in Atkins Street to play Mount Pleasant next Saturday.

Scores were close in the Heathcote and Leitchville Gunbower match on the Saints’ court at Pigeon Park in Heathcote’s Barrack Reserve.

The Caitlyn Hamilton-coached LG Bombers won 38-34 and moved to the second rung on the ladder.

Despite the defeat the Brooke Bolton and Kelsey Hayes-coached Heathcote holds its place in the five going into a bye.

Colbinabbin was too strong for Mount Pleasant on the Blues’ court at Toolleen.

The Jen McIntyre-coached Colbinabbin won 62-33.

Fourth in the premiership race, Colbinabbin is home at M.J. Morgan Oval to play the sixth-placed Lockington Bamawm United refreshed by the bye.

On a win-loss record of 1-4, the Anthea McCleary-coached Blues will aim to hit back in next Saturday’s match on North Bendigo’s court at Bendigo Club Oval in Atkins Street.

Lockington Bamawm United had the bye.
