INGLEWOOD won a fiercely fought match with Maiden Gully YCW Eagles in Saturday’ 17th round in Bendigo Bank Loddon Valley FNL senior footy.
The Blues made their way to the Eagles’ nest at Marist College Oval.
Inglewood scored 5.8 in the first half as Maiden Gully YCW rued an inaccurate 1.7.
At a quarter to play the Blues were up 58-30.
Maiden Gully YCW stormed home to score six goals in the last, but the Blues replied with four majors on the way to an 84-69 victory.
Seb Erharter led Inglewood’s attack on three goals as Bregon Cotchett and Riley Tresize added two.
For the Eagles it was Tyler James on a match-high four goals.
Best for the Fergus Payne-coached Inglewood were Gabe Nevins, Bregon Cotchett, Luke Matheson, Harry Veitch, Josh Whittle and James Bennett.
Daniel Russell, Anthony Robins, Mitch Hill, Grayson Brown, Stacy Fiske and Tyler James played well for the Eagles who are jointly coached by Shaun Filo and Angus Monfries.
Marong and Mitiamo met in Annette Grant Memorial Round at Jackal Oval in Marong’s Malone Park.
The day was also a fund-raiser for research and treatment of Pancreatic Cancer.
On the footy field Marong marked a 105-point victory and moved back to top of the ladder as Bridgewater had the bye.
The Panthers raced to a 44-3 lead by quarter-time and won term two, 23-8.
As Marong booted five goals in the third, Mitiamo replied with two.
Marong’s best term was the last as it added eight goals on the way to a 149-44 result.
Panthers’ co-coach Kain Robins kicked six goals as Michael Bradbury, four, and Ryley Taylor, three, also played well in the forward 50m arc.
Other multiple goalkickers for Marong were captain Nathan Devanny, Shaun Knott and Noah McCaig on two.
Mitiamo’s attack was led by Kobe Galvin on two.
Best for Marong which has Paul Thomson as non-playing co-coach were Michael Bradbury, Lachlan Lee, Shaun Knott, David Johnstone, Kain Robins and Matt Willox.
Mitiamo coach Luke Lougoon was best for the Superoos along with Matt Gilmour, Zach Morrison, Anthony Huismann, Waylon Draper and Zak Myers.
At Calivil United the Demons hosted Pyramid Hill.
It was a hot start by the Bulldogs as they won the first quarter, 53-12.
Pyramid Hill then slammed on another eight goals in the second term to lead 104-22 by the break.
Led by the play of Harrison Goodes, Steven Gunther and ruckman Kai Daniels the Pyramid Hill line-up kicked on for a 167-49 victory.
It was a great match by Goodes as he kicked seven goals.
Pyramid Hill also had Jordan Simpson slot four goals as Kai Daniels, Steven Gunther and Archie Hildebrandt added three each.
The Demons’ attack was led by Henry McCarthy on four.
Best for the Nathan Fitzpatrick-coached Pyramid Hill included Archie Hildebrant, Bailey George and Gavin James.
Jayden Leach, Anthony Dennis, Aidan Roulston, Josh Connolly, Henry McCarthy and Sam Green were best for the Sam Maher-coached Demons.
Bears-Lagoon Serpentine marked a 128-point win against Newbridge at Gadsden Finance Serpentine Reserve.
The Jake Wilkinson-coached Bears scored six goals in the opening term and followed up with nine in the second as it led 100-15 by half-time.
As BLS scored four goals in term three the Newbridge team replied with two majors.
Gun forward Josh Mellington finished with 11 goals in the 159-31 victory.
Other multiple goalkickers for the purple and gold were Farran Priest, three; Justin Laird and Nathan Twigg, two.
Newbridge’s attack was led by Billy Schilling on three.
Best for the Bears were Justin Laird, Nash Kemp, Josh Mellington, Nathan Twigg, Farran Priest and Jarrod Starr.
Andrew Padbury, Jed Zimmer, Ben McKinley, Dylan Lloyd, Andrew Willett and Brodie Carr played well for the Matt McArthur-coached Newbridge.
Bridgewater had the bye.

Calivil United tackles Bears-Lagoon Serpentine in the Demons’ den at Calivil Recreation Reserve.
Newbridge will be on home turf at Deepcore Drilling Riverside Oval to take on Marong.
Long-time rivals Mitiamo and Bridgewater will clash at Mitiamo’s John Forbes Oval.
