CALDER United Lions sent a warning to all rivals as it won Saturday’s clash with Boort in round five of the Goldacres North Central senior footy league by 25 goals.
On a day where the league marked Pink Round in support of Breast Cancer Network Australia it was the Lions who outran and outplayed Boort in a big way.
The Lions led 16-13 at quarter-time of the clash with the previously unbeaten Boort at Wycheproof.
Calder United then slammed on eight goals as it kept the Magpies to tally of three behinds in the second.
A 51-point lead at the long break became 83 at a quarter to play.
Lions’ co-coach Jordan Humphreys dominated in attack to finish on eight goals as Jack Exell and Zane Keighran kicked three majors and Steven Kennedy added two.
Boort’s leading goalkicker was Peter Barbopoulos on two.
Best for the Lions were Zane Keighran, Jordan Humphreys, Oscar Madden, Steven Kennedy, Jack Exell and Dean Putt.
Calder United’s non-playing co-coach is Darryl Wilson who was a multiple premiership-winning coach at Strathfieldsaye and Colbinabbin.
Best for Boort were James Byrne, Lachlan Hall, Tom Potter, Jayden Dick, Keiren Wilson and Ethan Coleman.
The Magpies are coached by Dale Cameron.
A six-goal opening term set up Charlton’s win on Donald’s turf.
The Mitch Collins-coached Navies scored 6.1 and kept Donald to a tally of three behinds in the first term.
Donald hit back to win the second, 18-11.
Inspired by the play of Ben Lanyon, Mitch Collins and Sean O’Connor, Charlton added seven goals in the final hour to complete a 94-35 victory.
Kris Clifford and Luke Dunne kicked three goals each as Mitch Collins, Bailey Kemp and Rhys Thompson added two.
Donald’s attack was led by George Morgan and coach Daniel Pearce on two each.
Best for Charlton included Elliott Fitzpatrick, Ben Xiriha and Mason Heenan.
Donald’s best were Daniel Pearce, Dyson Bell-Warren, Charlie Campbell, Nicholas Atkins, Kalon Green and Luca Rice.
Birchip-Watchem charged clear in the final quarter to record an 87-39 win against Wedderburn at Birchip’s George Cartwright Oval.
Defences were well on top as the Bulls led 30-8 at half-time.
Wedderburn fought back to score three goals in the third as the Bulls added two goals.
The Ash Connick-coached Birchip-Watchem finished the match with plenty of run as it won the last, 45-13.
Gun goalkicker Ben Edwards finished on seven goals for the Bulls as Rhona Conboy and Nicholas Rippon added two.
Wedderburn’s attack was led by Danny Benaim and Darcy Jackson with three each.
Bulls’ ruckman Hamish Hosking was best afield as Ben Lakin, Nicholas Rippon, Meyrick Buchanan, Joseph Reid and Will Lee also starred for the league leaders.
Darcy Jackson, Danny Benaim, Zach Pallpratt, Corey Lowry, Jake Pallpratt and coach Tom Metherell were Wedderburn’s best.
Sea Lake Nandaly Tigers bounced back from defeat in a big way against St Arnaud at Sea Lake Oval.
The Tigers led 39-6 at quarter-time of the clash with the Saints.
Sea Lake Nandaly then won the second term, 45-13.
Tyson McKenzie capped a great match with five goals as Max Cahoon, Wade Donnan, Adam Pattison, Ryan O’Sullivan and Chase Tait all kicked two majors in the 145-26 victory.
Leading goalkicker for the Saints was Josh Hicks on two.
Best for the Tigers were Adam Pattison, Jack Poulton, Wade Donnan, Max Cahoon, Tyson McKenzie and Thomas Cox.
The Tigers are jointly coached by Bryce Delmenico and Billy McInnes.
Kurtis Torney, Jay Kirwood, Zac Phillips, Sam Male, Max Hungerford and Josh Hicks worked hard for the Scott Driscoll-coached Saints.

Boort tackles Birchip-Watchem at Boort Park.
Charlton will be on home turf at Charlton Park to face Sea Lake Nandaly Tigers.
Donald and Wedderburn meet on the Royal Blues’ turf at Donald Recreation Reserve.
It will be Pink Sports Day-Play4BCNA when St Arnaud meets Calder United Lions at Lord Nelson Park in St Arnaud to support Breast Cancer Network Australia.
