Superoos fight Panthers to occupy third rung on ladder
MITIAMO will fight to hold third place on the A-grade ladder when it meets Marong in this Saturday’s 12th round of the Bendigo Bank Loddon Valley Football Netball League season.
The Superoos and Panthers will clash on Marong’s court at Malone Park.
Previous showdown between these teams in round three ended in a draw at John Forbes Oval in Mitiamo.
On that occasion, Mitiamo coach Laura Hicks sunk the goal to level scores in a contest where centre Amelia Ludeman and wing defence Kelly Pay played well for the Superoos.
Marong goaler Bridget Willock scored 34 goals as Kristy Hamilton and Brittany Shannon starred for the Bianca Garton-coached team.
The Laura Hicks-coached Superoos held third spot after a 65-41 win at home against Newbridge last Saturday.
The Panthers led at every break in a 54-34 victory in the 11th round clash on Bridgewater’s court.
Rested by the bye, Pyramid Hill makes the trek to Gadsden Finance Serpentine Reserve to take on Bears Lagoon Serpentine.
In round three the Abbey Dingwall-coached Pyramid Hill scored a 29-18 win against the Bears at Mitchell Park.
The Bears will be determined to create and capitalise more scoring chances after being held to 26 in last Saturday’s away match against Calivil United.
Newbridge is at home at Holloway Air Riverside Air to take on Maiden Gully YCW.
After a first-round loss at home to Marong, Maiden Gully YCW began a winning streak of seven by scoring a 65-31 win against the Maroons at Marist College Oval.
The Christie Griffiths-coached Eagles have soared to the top of the ladder, but have a red-hot Calivil United in pursuit.
It’s a rest for Bridgewater as Inglewood is not fielding an A-grade team, but the Blues and Mean Machine will contest the lower grades at Inglewood’s Dissy Machinery Oval.
Calivil United has the bye.
Standings in the Loddon Valley FNL’s A-grade netball competition:
Maiden Gully YCW 158 per cent, 36 points; Calivil United 141, 36; Mitiamo 140, 30; Marong 126, 30; Bridgewater 99, 18; Newbridge 71, 14; Pyramid Hill 59, 8; Bears Lagoon Serpentine 45, 4.
