INGLEWOOD capped a winning to A-grade netball in Saturday’s start to the Bendigo Bank Loddon Valley Football Netball League season.
The Blues were on their court at Dissy Machinery Oval to face Bears-Lagoon Serpentine.
Jointly coached by Helen Ward and Dianne Wayman, Inglewood played inspired netball to win 47-35 against the Stacee Burns-coached Bears.
It was a closely-fought finish at Calivil where the visiting Newbridge fought on for a 39-37 victory.
The Selina Holland-coached Newbridge worked incredibly hard to beat the Demons who were third last season.
Coached by Chelsea Hicks, Calivil United will be fired up for its next hit-out at home against Pyramid Hill on April 15.
Mitiamo was too strong for Bridgewater on the Superoos’ court at John Forbes Oval.
Runner-up last season and one of the competition’s powers for many seasons, Mitiamo won 72-37 against the red and white.
A tough start for the Aimie Brown-coached Bridgewater rolls on in round two when at home against the Maiden Gully YCW Eagles.
The final match on the season’s first day was at Marist College Oval where Maiden Gully YCW took on Marong.
Both were active on the recruiting front and had new coaches in charge.
Adam Boldiston marked his first match as Eagles coach with a 56-47 victory against the Sue Borserio-coached Marong.
Pyramid Hill had the bye.
