Superoos face tough test against Demons at Mitiamo

IT’S third against second as Mitiamo faces Calivil United in this Saturday’s 13th round of A-grade netball in the Bendigo Bank Loddon Valley Football Netball League season.

Mitiamo will have home-court advantage at John Forbes Oval in a clash crucial for both clubs.

When these teams met in round four it was Calivil United which fired up to score an 11-goal win against the Superoos in the Demons’ den.

Calivil United goes into this match after the bye, while Mitiamo played superb netball last Saturday to win 59-48 on Marong’s court at Malone Park.

Another strong start will be a focus for the Laura Hicks-coached Mitiamo team.

The Demons are jointly coached by Karen Pascoe and Teigan Redwood and have worked hard to again be among the league’s top three in the ’22 campaign.

Pyramid Hill takes on Marong at Mitchell Park.

The Abbey Dingwall-coached Pyramid Hill has home-court advantage against a Panthers line-up on the rebound from defeat.

In round four it was Marong which marked a 47-23 win against the Bulldogs.

Key players for the Panthers include Tracey O’Donnell and Brittany Shannon.

Pyramid Hill played well to win 48-32 in last Saturday’s clash with Bears Lagoon Serpentine at Gadsden Finance Serpentine Reserve.

It will be a tough task for the Bulldogs to complete back-to-back wins.

After a rest, Bridgewater will be back on its court to take on Bears Lagoon Serpentine.

The fifth-placed Mean Machine won 59-36 on the Bears’ court in the fourth round.

The Aimie Brown-coached Bridgewater is a danger to the top four, as shown by losing margins of two against Calivil United in round five and by five in round nine on Mitiamo’s court.

Newbridge takes a break this round because Inglewood is not fielding an A-grade team, but the Maroons and Blues will compete in the lower grades at Inglewood’s Dissy Machinery Oval.

Maiden Gully YCW Eagles have the bye.

Standings in the Loddon Valley FNL’s A-grade netball competition:

Maiden Gully YCW 163 per cent, 40 points; Calivil United 141, 36; Mitiamo 138, 34; Marong 120, 30; Bridgewater 100, 24; Newbridge 70, 12; Pyramid Hill 67, 12; Bears Lagoon-Serpentine 46, 4.
