Bulldogs halt Machine at Bridgewater

PYRAMID Hill outplayed the Mean Machine at Bridgewater to score a 47-point victory in Saturday’s 13th round of the Bendigo Bank Loddon Valley FNL senior footy season.

A highly entertaining and atacking first half ended with Bridgewater in front, 44-40.

In the third it was the Nathan Fitzpatrick-coached Bulldogs who took control.

Pyramid Hill’s tally of 5.3 to 2.2 gave it a 15-point buffer going into the last term.

The Bulldogs then dominated the last quarter as they slammed on five goals and kept the Machjine goalless.

At the final siren Pyramid Hill led 107-60.

Jack Burns and Seb Relouw were in great form as they kicked four goals for the Bulldogs and Thomas Brennan added two.

Lachlan Sharp kicked three goals for Bridgewater.

The Bulldogs’ charge to victory was led by Ben Knight, Tom McGregor, Seb Relouw, Lachlan Sidebottom, Jack Burns and Jack Timmins.

Harry McKinley, Boden Alexander, Lee Coghlan, Emile Pavlich, Tyler Estrada and Jon Coghlan were best for the Rick Ladson-coached Bridgewater.

Marong bounced back from its first defeat in many matches to win a hard-fought contest at Gadsden Finance Serpentine Reserve.

The Marong Panthers charged to a 25-nil lead by quarter-time.

Bears-Lagoon Serpentine fought back to win the second term, 18-7.

As the Panthers added 2.5 in the third a tally of 2.1 by the Bears put them within three goals at a quarter to go.

Although it was outpointed in the last, 21-13, the Linton Jacobs-coached Marong had done enough to record a 62-52 victory.

Kain Robins was Marong’s only multiple goalkicker on two as Farran Priest did likewise for the Bears.

Best for Marong were Matt Willow, Matt Riordan, Jack McCaig, Brodie Hartland, Richard Tibbett and Ryley Taylor.

Farran Priest, Tyler Miles, Justin Laird, Josh Taig, Jaxon Addlem and Darcy Hawker played well for the Jake Wilkinson-coached Bears.

The heat is on in the fight to decide fifth place.

Wins by Newbridge and Calivil United meant both are locked on 16 points.

Newbridge dominated its clash with Inglewood at Walker’s Doughnuts Riverside Oval in Newbridge.

The Sam Gale and Daniel Smith-coached Newbridge charged to a 53-23 lead by half-time of the showdown with the Blues.

Six goals as it kept the opposition to just one major in the third put the result beyond doubt.

Chris Dixon went on to kick a match-high six goals as Matt McArthur added four in a 126-48 victory.

Other multiple goalkickers for the Maroons were Caleb Sanders, three; and Thomas Hobson, two.

Inglewood’s attack was led by Campbell Love and Jack Nevins on two.

Best afield for Newbridge was Tyler McLeod as Ed Aujard, Ben McKinley, Kobe Friswell, Ricky Cathie and Matt McArthur also starred.

Cody Stobaus, Lachlan Ford, coach Fergus Payne, Luke Matheson, Lachlan Harris and Mitch Conlan were Inglewood’s best.

Calivil United kicked clear in the second half to mark a 93-43 victory on Mitiamo’s turf at John Forbes Oval.

The Anthony Dennis-coached Calivil United led 21-3 at quarter-time and 34-16 by the main break.

The Demons fired up in the third as they seven goals.

Mitiamo never gave up and won the last, 14-13.

Ben Baker and Anthony Dennis kicked three goals for the Demons as Jacob Mulquiny and Mitch Stephens added two.

The Superoos’ attack was led by Kobe Galvin on three and Brayden Baines with two.

Best for Calivil United were Sam Maher, Liam Stephens, Jacob Hinds, Lewis Fisher, Jack Maher and Jacob Mulquiny.

Daniel Walters, Zach Morrison, Luke Lougoon, Liam Shiell, Jayden Matthews and Ryan Duncan played well for the Jon Varcoe-coached Superoos.

Maiden Gully YCW Eagles had the bye.

In next Saturday’s 14th round, Bears-Lagoon Serpentine is home at Gadsden Finance Serpentine Reserve to take on Bridgewater.

Inglewood and Maiden Gully YCW clash on the Blues’ turf at Inglewood’s Centre State Scaffolding Oval.

Pyramid Hill faces Mitiamo in the Bulldogs’ kennel at Mitchell Park.

Marong and Calivil United meet at East West Oval in Marong’s Malone Park.

Newbridge has the bye.
