Superoos take points on Pyramid Hill’s court
MITIAMO won a closely-fought A-grade netball contest with Pyramid Hill as the Bendigo Bank Loddon Valley FNL hit the 14-round mark on Saturday.
It was a top of the ladder showdown between Pyramid Hill and Mitiamo.
Although Pyramid Hill had home-court advantage at Mitchell Park it was the Jen Wilson-coached Superoos who scored a 49-43 victory.
Both teams were locked on 40 premiership points going into the match.
The Superoos move four points clear of the red, white and blue and from here will be tough to dislodge from the number one rung.
In the run to the finals Mitiamo is home at John Forbes Oval to play Inglewood next Saturday.
A week later and the Superoos play at Gadsden Finance Serpentine Reserve.
Mitiamo rounds out the 18-round home and away series by hosting Bridgewater on August 10, and then plays on Newbridge’s court at Walker’s Doughnuts Riverside Oval on August 17.
The Chelsea Emmerson-coached Pyramid Hill has a bye next Saturday before it plays at Newbridge, hosts Inglewood and Maiden Gully YCW in the final two rounds.
In Saturday’s other matches, Bears-Lagoon Serpentine scored a 10-goal win against Bridgewater at Gadsden Finance Serpentine Reserve.
The Danielle O’Toole-coached Bears will have gained plenty of confiedence from the 44-34 victory.
The Bears are likely to face the Caz Wood and Olivia Collicoat-coached Bridgewater in an elimination final.
Maiden Gully YCW soared to a 30-goal win on Inglewood’s court at Centre State Scaffolding Oval.
Eagles’ premiership-winning coach Adam Boldiston would have been rapt with the defensive effort to limit the Abbey Hayes-coached Blues to a tally of 17 goals.
Marong dominated its match with Calivil United at East West Oval in Marong’s Malone Park.
The Robyn Cunnington-coached Panthers won 85-40 against the Haylee Fawcett-coached Calivil United line-up.
Newbridge had the bye.
