Newbridge breaks Pyramid Hill’s run
NEWBRIDGE ended Pyramid Hill’s unbeaten in Saturday’s seventh round of A-grade netball action in the Bendigo Bank Loddon Valley FNL season.
The league marked Reconciliation Round at matches played at Mitiamo’s John Forbes Oval, Pyramid Hill’s Mitchell Park, Marist College in Maiden Gully, and Calivil United Recreation Reserve.
On the netball court it was the Selina Holland and Kristy Gandy-coached Newbridge team which made the trek to Pyramid Hill.
Playing at home, Pyramid Hill was favourite to take the four premiership points.
It was not to be as the Maroons fought on for a 40-38 victory against the Chelsea Emmerson-coached Pyramid Hill.
The Newbridge triumph meant Mitiamo jumped to top spot on the A-grade ladder.
A Mitiamo line-up coached by Jen Wilson was too strong on its court at John Forbes Oval against Bears-Lagoon Serpentine.
At the final siren the Superoos led 66-43 against the Danielle O’Toole-coached Bears.
Calivil United marked its first victory of the ’24 campaign.
The Demons were on their court against an Inglewood team also desperate to end its winless streak.
The Haylee Fawcett-coached Calivil United won 48-36 against the Abbey Hayes-coached Blues.
It was a terrific contest at Marist College where Maiden Gully YCW Eagles took on Marong.
There was plenty at stake as the victor would keep the heat on the fifth-placed team.
A Marong team coached by Robyn Cunnington won 46-39 against the Adam Boldiston-coached Eagles.
Bridgewater had the bye.

Newbridge takes on Calivil United at Walker’s Donuts Riverside Oval in Newbridge.
Inglewood faces Pyramid Hill at Inglewood’s Centre State Scaffolding Oval.
