CASTLEMAINE dominated the rematch of the ’24 Champions IGA-backed CVFL women’s senior footy grand final as it took on Golden Square on Good Friday.
The round three match was played under Castlemaine’s Camp Reserve lights.
Golden Square went into the contest following big wins against Bendigo Thunder and Eaglehawk.
The blue and gold could not halt Castlemaine’s relentless attacks.
A tally of 19 scoring shots by the Pies as the Bulldogs had nil was a sign of the reigning champions dominance.
Castlemaine led 10-nil at quarter-time and 20-nil by half-time.
Arguably the only downside to the play of the Jordan Cochrane-coached Castlemaine was a score of 2.8.
The Magpies improved their accuracy in the third as they scored 3.1 and then added 2.3 in the last.
At the final siren Castlemaine led 54-nil.
Vice-captain Eloise Gretgrix led the attack on three goals as Brianna Burt, Ella Cochrane, Jemma Finning and Maeve Tupper added one each.
Best for the Magpies were Jemma Finning, Tiahna Cochrane, Amelia Britt, Brianna Burt, Grace Brady and Maeve Tupper.
It was a tough night for the Carly Geary-coached Golden Square.
The blue and gold’s best were Ava Barker, Taylah Moore, Gemma Free, Lauren Suleiman, Emma Crossland and Jetah Keighran.
The other match on Good Friday was at Eaglehawk’s Canterbury Park where the Hawks faced North Bendigo.
Details from this match have not been supplied.
The Hawks are coached by Molly Metcalf.
North Bendigo’s coaches are Jaydene Burzacott and Zak Carter.
Bendigo Thunder, Marong, Sandhurst and White Hills all had the bye.
