THE Marong Panthers clawed their way to a six-goal victory at Inglewood in Saturday’s eighth round of A-grade netball in the Bendigo Bank Loddon Valley Football Netball League season.
Teams vied for premiership points for the first time since May 22.
Marong went into as favourites at Dissy Machinery Oval, but Inglewood put in one of its best performances of the 2021 campaign.
A tally of 38 goals equalled the Blues’ best from the round two clash at John Forbes Oval in Mitiamo.
The Panthers had not played since May 15 and a 44-38 victory was the club’s since the round one triumph against Calivil United at Discover Marong Park in Malone Park.
Bridgewater scored a 45-31 victory on Pyramid Hill’s court at Mitchell Park.
The Mean Machine was fired up after a 28-goal loss to Maiden Gully YCW Eagles in the previous round.
Calivil United scored a 54-29 win against Newbridge on the Maroons’ court at Simonds Homes Riverside Park.
Maiden Gully YCW Eagles had another rest as Bears Lagoon Serpentine is not fielding an A-grade team.
Mitiamo had the bye.

In next Saturday’s ninth round, Bridgewater takes on the unbeaten Mitiamo at Bridgewater Bakehouse Oval.
Marong plays Newbridge at Discover Marong Park, Malone Park.
Maiden Gully YCW Eagles and Inglewood clash at Marist College Oval.
Pyramid Hill has a rest in A-grade, but will play Bears Lagoon Serpentine in the lower grades at Mitchell Park.
Calivil United has the bye.
