Mixed day for White Hills in second week of play

WHITE Hills marked three wins and two defeats in the weekend’s second round of the Bendigo Junior Football League season.

The Demons won the under-16 and under-14 girls match contested at Tint-A-Car Oval in Scott Street, White Hills.

In grading matches, White Hills was win and loss in the under-14 boys, and was beaten in the under-12 boys.

Lots of matches were played across Saturday and Sunday in Bendigo, as well as Wesley Hill in Castlemaine, Kyneton Showgrounds, BPH Civil Oval in Maiden Gully, Barkers Oval in Maryborough’s Princes Park, and Marist College Oval in Maiden Gully.

After a bye in week one, Heathcote took to the field for the under-12 grading match against Strathfieldsaye at Enterprise Oval in Strathfieldsaye.

The Saints capped a successful trek to Storm territory as they won 71-19.

Bryce Ellis kicked four goals for Heathcote as Max Dellar, Emmanuel Nagy, Tristan Foster and Kayden Willmot were best.

Sandhurst won the under-18 girls match against Golden Square by 77 points.

Lily McMahon and Lexie Turner kicked three goals each in the 87-10 win at Ewing Park.

Best for Sandhurst were Lily Franklin, Varlee Nihill, Ruby McMahon and Scarlett Orritt.

Emma Gilligan goaled for Golden Square and was her team’s best, along with Isabelle Dole, Madison Elliott and Leteisha Bourke.

Strathfieldsaye scored a 114-nil win against Woorinen at Triple M Park in Tannery Lane.

Tia Davidge and Octavia Di Donato booted four goals apiece as Madeline Marks, Nikita Matthews, Bryde O’Rourke and Georgia Cook won plenty of the footy for Storm.

Jorja Gibson, Demi Greenwood, Jetah Keighran and Lanie Somerville were Woorinen’s best.

Seven goal hauls by Keely Fullerton and Tegan Williams led Eaglehawk to a 127-8 victory on Kangaroo Flat’s ground at Bendigo Mazda Oval in Dower Park.

Best for the Hawks were Lexie Moss, Fullerton, Williams and Kayla Cox.

Cadence Mulder goaled for the Roos as Taylah Petrusma, Penelope Hendy, Sonia Teeklu and Serryn Eenjes were best.

In the under-16 girls competition, White Hills defeated Eaglehawk, 96-7 at Tint-A-Car Oval in Scott Street.

Acacia Edwards and Kiara Field kicked three goals apiece for the Demons.

Jayda Matthews-Shanley goaled for the Hawks.

Best for White Hills were Sasha Pearce, Field, Oakley Turner and Jorja Sargeant.

Matthews-Shanley, Taylah Patching, Ella Torr and Braye Moss played well for Eaglehawk.

Golden Square won 8-0 on Strathfieldsaye’s ground at Enterprise Oval, and details from Kangaroo Flat against Huntly at Dower Park were not supplied.

Sandhurst had the bye.

There were two closely-fought matches in the under-14 girls competition.

South Bendigo scored a 38-30 win against Kyneton at Harry Trott Oval in Kennington.

Scores were 21-all at half-time, but the Bloods gained a two-point lead by the last change.

South Bendigo scored 2.2 to 1.2 in the last to take the points.

Tatiyana Hodgskiss booted two goals for South Bendigo as Nikola Cox kicked all four of Kyneton’s goals.

Best for the Bloods were Michelle Liberty Vanzuyden, Hodgskiss, Maya Langdon and Tahlia Boyd-Buck.

Charlotte Pennefather, Aaliyah Terbeeke, Eliza Coutts and Olivia Datson played well for Kyneton.

White Hills fought on to score a 35-28 win against Castlemaine at Tint-A-Car Oval in Scott Street.

The Demons led 14-8 at half-time and then kicked on to lead 26-15 by the last change.

Castlemaine scored two goals in the final term, but it was the Demons who held on.

Jacynta Petri booted two goals as Maddix Dixon, Ruby Hilson, Jayda Alford and Ava Crimmins were best for White Hills.

Samantha Brasher, Chelsea Lewis, Maddyson Hewson and Taylah Williams played well for the Magpies.

Scores from the Strathfieldsaye and Golden Square match were not supplied.

Sandhurst had the bye.
