Mounts face Demons’ heat in netball clash

MOUNT Pleasant will be aiming to break the Winslow Constructors White Hills Demons hoodoo on Saturday when they meet in the A-grade netball clash on Bendigo Bank Heathcote DFNL preliminary final day.

The Blues and Demons will play on court one at Elmore Recreation Reserve from 2.30pm.

Just three goals separated these teams when they met in the qualifying final at Gunbower.

The Elley Lawton-coached White Hills fought on for a 55-52 win against the Blues.

It marked a hat-trick of wins for the Demons against Mount Pleasant this season.

In round six, White Hills scored a 53-30 win at home against the Blues.

The round 15 match in Mount Pleasant’s home in Toolleen ended in a 52-44 win for the red and back.

Last Saturday the Demons faced the unbeaten Colbinabbin in the second semi-final.

White Hills worked hard, but Colbinabbin charged clear to record a 61-40 victory on its court at M.J. Morgan Oval.

The Blues stayed in the premiership race as they scored a 59-39 win against Huntly in the first semi-final at Lockington’s Nichol Trading Oval.

The White Hills squad includes Amber Weston, Annie Spear, Bree Heiden, Laurinda Sawyer, Serryn Eenjes and Amy West.

Mount Pleasant’s team includes Ivy and Maisy Harrop, Maeve Tupper, Matisse Perez, Meg Banfield and Claudia Collins.

In A-reserve, Mount Pleasant will face Colbinabbin from 1pm on court one.

These teams met in the qualifying final where Mounts won 56-48.

Both contests in the home-and-away series were incredibly close.

Colbinabbin won at home in round nine, 57-55, and then took the points in a 47-46 victory at Toolleen in the 18th round.

Mount Pleasant is on the rebound from a 48-53 loss to Huntly in the second semi-final.

Colbinabbin scored a 10-goal win against White Hills in the first semi.

The Keely Jones-coached Mount Pleasant squad includes Jorja Whatley, Madalyn Nihill, Sarah Mannes, Shelby Hickmam, Audrey Gargiulo and Lara Bish.

Colbinabbin is coached by Jen McIntyre.

Those to wear the green and gold include Nicole McEvoy, Macy McCaig, Dominique and Mikayla Palmer, Aggie Minne and Chelsea Whittle.

In B-grade it will be Huntly against Mount Pleasant from 10am on court one.

It was two-nil in favour of the Hawks in the home-and-away series.

Huntly won at Toolleen in round seven by nine goals and then scored a 17-goal victory at Strauch Reserves in the 14th round.

The qualifying final ended in a 50-47 win for Huntly against the Blues.

The Hawks went down, 37-40 in the second semi-final clash with White Hills.

Mount Pleasant won the first semi against Lockington Bamawm United by nine goals.

A Huntly line-up coached by Megan Runnalls and Taylor Mann includes Jenna Baker, Lauren Campbell, Anna Kane, Maddy Kennedy and Brit Shaddock.

The Blues are coached by Carine Comer.

Mount Pleasant’s squad includes Kristi and Tarli Nihill, Rochelle Young, Kristen Lang and Bonnie McIntyre.

It will be the Demons against the Blues as White Hills and Mount Pleasant contest the B-reserve match from 11.30am on court one.

Fans are likely to be treated to another top match.

The qualifying final ended in a 43-38 for White Hills against the Blues.

In round six the Demons won 43-32 at home against Mount Pleasant.

It was 32-all in the 15th round on the Toolleen court.

The Demons are on the rebound from a 20-goal loss to Huntly in the second semi-final.

Mount Pleasant marked a 47-36 win against North Bendigo in the first semi.

First-up on court one will be Mount Pleasant’s and Huntly’s 17-under teams at 8.45am.

The Blues have won all three matches with the Demons.

In round six, Mount Pleasant won 41-36 in the Scott Street den.

The Blues then won 39-26 at Toolleen in the 15th round.

Mount Pleasant won the qualifying final against White Hills by five goals.

The Blues could not halt Huntly’s charge to a 52-25 victory in the second semi.

White Hills netted an 18-goal win in the first semi against Leitchville Gunbower.

The Demons and Hawks will meet in the 15-under clash between White Hills and Huntly on court two.

White Hills won the regular season matches with the Hawks by 20 and four goals.

After a 23-goal win against Elmore in the qualifying final, White Hills could not stop Lockington Bamawm United as the Cats won the second semi by 15 goals.

The Hawks have made their way from the elimination final.

The Hawks won their first final against Colbinabbin by five goals and then beat Elmore in the first semi by nine goals.

Opening game on court two will be the 13-under match between Colbinabbin and Elmore from 8.45am.

The Grasshoppers have won all three previous matches with Elmore by 13, eight and eight goals.

Most recent showdown was the qualifying final which went Colbinabbin’s way, 29-21.

The Grasshoppers were beaten, 18-15 in the second semi-final by Lockington Bamawm United.

Elmore stayed in the premiership race as it won the first semi against Leitchville Gunbower by six goals.
