NETBALL UMPIRE UNIFORM CHANGE FOR SEASON 2023

NETBALL UMPIRE UNIFORM CHANGE FOR SEASON 2023

In line with Netball Australia changes to the Uniform policy in December 2022, it was recommended for Associations and Leagues to allow match officials to choose any combination of uniform items to wear in the manner they find most comfortable.

It has been a tradition in the AFL Central Victoria region, that Umpires officiating the game of netball wear white/cream skirts/shorts along with a white/cream short sleeve top.

All Associations and Leagues within the AFL Central Victoria region have considered the recommendations and will adopt changes to the lower body apparel from white/cream skirt/shorts to a plain black skirt/shorts. Leggings and skins may be worn should umpires wish to cover additional body surfaces. Such additional garments should be plain black in colour.

Umpires in the AFL Central Victoria region will continue to wear an Association/League approved polo top on the upper body.

Umpires will have a two-year transition period to change their lower body apparel from white/cream to plain black.

It is important that netball recognises that everyone participating in our sport can wear a uniform that caters for individual preferences and religious beliefs, but also protects individuals in all weather conditions.
