Saints march to victory on North Bendigo’s court
HEATHCOTE marked a 13-goal victory on North Bendigo’s court in Saturday’s start to A-grade netball in the Bendigo Bank Heathcote District Football Netball League.
The Saints and Bulldogs met in the season-opener at Hibo Hotel Oval in Atkins Street.
The Brooke Bolton-coached Heathcote worked extremely hard to end North Bendigo’s unbeaten run against the them.
At the final siren the Saints led 48-35.
HDFNL netball powerhouses, Colbinabbin and Elmore met under the M.J. Morgan Oval lights in Colbinabbin.
The Grasshoppers led 13-12 at quarter-time, but the Bloods lifted their workrate in the second to lead 30-23 by the long break.
It was a closely-fought third term which Elmore won 11-10.
Although it went into the match without gun goal attack Abbey Hromenko who was competing in the heptathlon at the Australian track and field titles at Sydney’s Olympic Park, Elmore showed it has plenty of scoring power in the 55-41 victory.
Another four clubs will take to the court this Saturday after sitting out the season-opening round.
White Hills takes on Lockington Bamawm United at Scott Street in White Hills.
Heathcote will be chasing back-to-back wins as it takes to the Barrack Reserve court against Huntly.
Colbinabbin and North Bendigo clash in Grasshoppers’ territory at M.J. Morgan Reserve.
Elmore and Mount Pleasant meet at Elmore Recreation Reserve.
