North Bendigo raises pressure against Bloods

NORTH Bendigo will bring a high level of pressure to Elmore’s court in Saturday’s round 10 clash in the Bendigo Bank Heathcote DFNL A-grade netball action.

The Bulldogs and Bloods were separated by just five goals when Elmore took the points in the season’s opening round at Bendigo Club Oval in North Bendigo’s Atkins Street.

Elmore now has Cayde Hayes, playing, and Hayley Langdon, non-playing, as co-coaches after Annie Hockey stepped aside because of increasing commitments elsewhere.

The Bloods start this round in fourth place, but in danger of dropping out of the top five.

As Elmore had the bye last round North Bendigo scored a 56-31 win at Leitchville against Leitchville Gunbower.

The Kiralee Kinder-coached Bulldogs are four points behind the fourth and fifth-placed Elmore and Huntly, but in front on percentage.

North Bendigo is on a three-game winning streak following victories against Heathcote, Lockington Bamawm United and Leitchville Gunbower.

It will be Hawks against Cats as the Harlowe Huntly Hawks face Lockington Bamawm United at Huntly’s Strauch Reserve.

The Ashlea Sherlock and Kym Bell-coached Hawks won at Lockington in round one by 22 goals.

Huntly netted a 16-goal win on Heathcote’s court at Pigeon Park in Barrack Reserve last Saturday.

Another big test for the LBU Cats who are coached by Kerryn Giorgianni and Shelby Stone.

Heathcote will be back at Pigeon Park to play Mount Pleasant.

In round one the Anthea McCleary-coached Mounts dominated at Colbinabbin’s M.J. Morgan Oval to beat the Saints by 37 goals.

The Blues will be keen to return to the winner’s list after a 34-goal loss at Colbinabbin last Saturday.

There’s also been a change to Heathcote’s off-court structure since round one.

After starting the season as netball operations manager, Anna Dundon is now coaching the Saints after the departure of Chloe Meulenmeesters.

Leitchville Gunbower will play at Gunbower for the first time this season when it hosts White Hills.

The Grant Matthews-coached Bombers are seventh in the premiership race.

Huge task against the Elly Lawton-coached Demons which tipped off the ’25 campaign by scoring a 69-45 victory in the clash with the LG team in the Scott Street den.

The Demons fired up for a 61-32 win in last Saturday’s clash with Lockington Bamawm United at Lockington’s Nichol Trading Oval.

Unbeaten and on top of the ladder, Colbinabbin has the bye.

Next hit-out for the Jen McIntyre-coached Colbinabbin will be home at M.J. Morgan Oval against Heathcote on June 28.
