North’s run under threat from Mounts

NORTH Bendigo’s unbeaten streak will be under threat from Mount Pleasant in Saturday’s round 14 clash in Bendigo Bank Heathcote DFNL senior footy.

The Bulldogs and Blues will play at Bendigo Club Oval in North Bendigo’s Atkins Street from 2.30pm.

An 11-match winning run by North Bendigo includes the 86-52 victory on the Blues’ ground at Toolleen in round five.

A Bulldogs’ attack that includes Jake Dean, Dylan Klemm, Darcy Richards and Cody Riddick will test the Blues.

At the other end of the field, Mounts has Ben Weightman who has kicked 17 goals in three games since he rejoined the club in the 11th round.

In-form players for North Bendigo include co-coach Ryan Hartley, ruckman Jordan Hargreaves, Liam Dillon and Harrison Jarvie.

The Bulldogs who have Rob Bennett as non-playing co-coach also have the experience of captain Aaryn Craig, Ryan Alford, Nic Waterson and 200-game player Jordan Ford in their squad.

Mount Pleasant co-coach Josh Hann returned to the field last Saturday for the first time since round seven.

The Blues also have co-captains Chris Down and William Wallace, Reardon McIvor, Mitch Rovers, Brodie Leonard-Shannon, Brodie Montague and Caelan Smith to lead the way against a formidable opponent and its parochial fans.

Mount Pleasant is jointly coached by Josh Hann, Cameron Carter and Adam Baird.

After they drew 73-all in round five, Leitchville Gunbower and Heathcote lock horns at Gunbower.

The Shannon Keam-coached Leitchville Gunbower will be wary of an opponent which ended its winless run last Saturday.

The LG Bombers will be keen to hit back after a 13-point loss on Colbinabbin’s turf at M.J. Morgan Oval.

Best in LG’s clash with the Grasshoppers were Jye Keath, Austin Windridge, Xavier Colvin and Max Hagan.

The Bombers team to tackle the Saints includes ruckman and Cheatley medallist Jobee Warde, Charles Hancock, Matt McLellan, Brad Green and Chris Horman.

After kicking eight goals in Heathcote’s win against Lockington Bamawm United, Dylan Johnstone will be a major focus of LG’s defence.

The Saints also have the run of Rhys Bolton, Codie Price, Jackson Conforti, Justin Bateson and Joseph Beedle.

A squad jointly coached by Andrew Saladino and Liam Jacques includes Daniel and Walter Butler, Ben Connelly, Jonty Kelly, Daniel Johnstone and Will Tobin.

The Winslow Constructors White Hills Demons take on neighbouring Harlowe Huntly Hawks in the Demons’ den in Scott Street.

The Hamish Morcom-coached Hawks beat the Demons by 53 points in round five.

Huge test for White Hills defenders Ben Irvine, Patrick Crawford, Liam Monaghan and Nick Wallace against Sam Dunstan, Jacob Greenwood, Harry Whittle and Joseph Artavilla.

A highlight will be the ruck contest between Jack Lawton and Huntly gun recruit Nathan Dunstan.

Demons’ co-coach B en Taylor, Harry Sheilds, Josh Dwyer  and Mitch Dole will be in attack opposed to Josh Hull, Darcy Lawler, Mitch Billings and Judd Gilchrist.

The Demons also have Brad McConnell as non-playing co-coach.

Elmore will be back on home turf to tackle Colbinabbin.

The Nathan Kay-coached Bloods will be determined not to beaten by 20-plus goals as it was against the Grasshoppers in round five.

Massive task for Elmore defenders Phil Smith, Hayden Trewick and Rhys Holmberg against a Colbinabbin attack led by Brandyn Grenfell, Alex Carr and Nick Knight.

In midfield the Bloods have Sam Lees, Lachlan Giffin and Zack Holmberg to take on Alex Van Ruiswyk, Nathan Basile and Isaac Carracher.

Bloods’ forwards James Harney, Liam Bianco and Matt O’Dwyer will be opposed by Charlie McLean, Matt Riordan and Angus Martin.

Lockington Bamawm United has the bye.
