THE Marong Panthers were victorious in the 300-game milestone for Jaime Sawers in Sunday’s 16th round in Champions IGA-backed CVFL senior women’s footy action.
Marong was on home turf at Jackal Oval in Malone Park to take on North Bendigo.
The Panthers raced to a 14-nil lead by quarter-time before both teams added a point in term two.
Marong then scored 3.1 in the third as the Bulldogs replied with a tally of 2.1.
Led by the play of Lauren Knight, Hayley Martiniello and Alex Campbell-Smith, Marong kicked on for a 48-28 victory.
Sawers capped the milestone with a team-high three goals as Dani Jeffery added two.
Kira Gibbons led North Bendigo’s attack on two goals.
Best for Marong included Jaime Sawers, Bianca Bourke and Crystal Clark.
It was a fifth-win for the Jimmy Evenden and Daniel Bourke-coached Panthers.
North Bendigo’s best were Ashlyne McInnes, Kourtnie Prolongeau, Marguerita Murphy, Quetta Holloway-Jinks, Nicole Brannan and Ella Dobell.
The Bulldogs are jointly coached by Jaydene Burzacott and Zak Carter.
Sandhurst marked a 52-point victory in the den of the Winslow Constructors White Hills Demons in Scott Street.
The Dragons led 13-3 at quarter-time and 27-5 by the long break.
Scout Carmody and Amanda Carrod went on to kick two goals each as Sandhurst charged to a 63-11 result.
Kadeisha Smith was on target for White Hills in the third quarter.
Best for Sandhurst were Lara Bish, Ruby Campbell, Paynton Jolliffe, Varlee Nihill, Katie Walker and Neve Pinner.
A win-loss of 9-4 has the Andrew Saladino and Liam Ireland-coached Sandhurst in fourth place and a “lock” for finals.
Best for White Hills were Nadia Peebles, Sasha Pearce, Julia Greenhalf, Kadeisha Smith, Sharni Barker and Tracey Anderson.
The Demons are coached by Phil Murley.
The ladder-leading Castlemaine racked up 49 scoring shots in a big win on home turf at Camp Reserve against Bendigo Thunder.
Castlemaine led 60-nil at quarter-time and then scored six goals in the second term.
The pressure and run by the Jordan Cochrane-coached Magpies did not ease up.
Five goals in the third were followed by six in the last to complete a 179-6 victory.
Jemma Finning capped a best afield performance with seven goals as Eloise Gretgrix also slotted seven majors.
Other multiple goalkickers were Brianna Burt on five and Ella Cochrane on two.
Best for Castlemaine were Jemma Finning, Brianna Burt, Tiahna Cochrane, Mia Martin, Cassidy McLean and Grace Brady.
Maddi Brackenreg, Sharlene Cole, Sarah O’Loughlin, Hollie Maher, Stacey Barbagallo and Alannah Leach were best for the Mick McInnes-coached Thunder.
Eaglehawk and Golden Square had the bye.

Round 17 kicks off with next Friday night’s clash between Sandhurst and Eaglehawk at Queen Elizabeth Oval from 7.15pm.
Two matches will be played from 1pm on Sunday to complete the round.
Bendigo Thunder will be on home turf at Weeroona Oval in Napier Street to take on the neighbouring Winslow Constructors White Hills Demons.
It’s the clash of the Bulldogs as North Bendigo and Golden Square meet at Bendigo Club Oval in North Bendigo’s Atkins Street.

Woorinen showed it will be tough to beat for the CVFL under-18 girls footy premiership after Sunday’s emphatic win on Golden Square’s ground.
The Tigers marked a successful raid at Wade Street by scoring a 43-2 victory.
In a showdown of the league’s top two it was the team in yellow and black which dominated.
Sunny Barry kicked two goals as Tyler Arnett, Stella Bibby, Erin Johnston and Meg Young were also on target.
Best for Woorinen were Eva Coffey, Charli Conway, Madison Johnston, Ruby Butler, Chloe Lovell and Meg Young.
Golden Square’s best were Makayla Roberts, Gemma McPhee, Jayde Chappel, Charlotte Crane, Matilda Smith and Eabha Polzin.
The Demons and Dragons played in the Scott Street den as Winslow Constructors White Hills Demons hosted Sandhurst.
The Dragons led 19-14 at quarter-time and then scored 4.2 as the Demons added six behinds in the second quarter.
Sandhurst dominated the second half as it added 7.9 and kept the red and black to just two behinds.
Mia Maxted and Chloe Tweed kicked five and three goals in a 96-22 victory for the maroon and blue.
Other goalkickers for Sandhurst were Ellie Bellenger and Neve Pinner on two, and Ryah Mackie and Kyah Spiteri.
The Demons’ goalkickers were Jayda Alford and Tarlia Murphy.
Best for Sandhurst were Neve Pinner, Mia Maxted, Chloe Tweed, Eva Cathrine, Milla Franklin and Ellie Bellenger.
Belle Mapperson, Ella Watkins, Kassidy Cail, Yasmine Edwards, Lily Eickert and Tarliah Murphy played well for White Hills.
After a closely-fought first term, Strathfieldsaye surged clear of Kangaroo Flat on the Roos’ ground in Dowr Park.
Storm led 27-13 at quarter-time and then added 3.3 in the second as the Roos scored 1.1.
The second half was dominated by Strathfieldsaye as it kicked nine goals and kept the Roos scoreless.
At the final siren Storm led 110-20.
Best for Storm were Caitlin Daley, Seonah McGregor, Scarlett Ward and Mikayla Davis.
Kangaroo Flat’s best were London Benaim, Abigail Sendy, Maliha Dean, Tahlee Gray and Ava Ahearn.
It was a bye for Eaglehawk.

The Winslow Constructors White Hills Demons will be back on their turf in Scott Street to play Kangaroo Flat.
Strathfieldsaye faces Woorinen at Triple M Park in Strathfieldsaye’s Tannery Lane.
