Roos’ unbeaten run to be challenged by Gisborne

BASED on their previous meeting, fans can expect a torrid contest when Kangaroo Flat plays Gisborne in Saturday’s 12th round of A-grade netball in the Bendigo Bank Bendigo Football Netball League.

It’s Love The Game round across all leagues in the AFL Central Victoria region.

In round three, Gisborne and Kangaroo Flat played out a 43-all at Gisborne’s Gardiner Reserve.

The Roos are chasing win number eight when they take to the court at Bendigo Mazda Oval in Kangaroo Flat’s Dower Park.

Defences for both teams will need to be on their game.

In last week’s action, Kangaroo Flat scored a 72-37 win against Eaglehawk at home.

Gisborne marked the trek to Strathfieldsaye’s Triple M Park by scoring an 81-18 victory at the Tannery Lane complex.

Another crucial match will be played at Queen Elizabeth Oval between South Bendigo and Kyneton.

A win for the Bloods will keep them in striking distance of claiming a top-three berth and double chance for the finals.

Kyneton will be desperate for victory to stay within four points of the fifth-placed Eaglehawk.

In round three, South Bendigo won a hard-fought match on Kyneton’s court, 33-27.

The Bloods had a rest last week, while Kyneton went down by three goals at Golden Square.

After celebrating a great victory, Golden Square faces a huge task against the ladder-leading Sandhurst.

In round three, Sandhurst scored a 52-goal win against the blue and gold on the QEO court.

Golden Square will be determined to put in a much stronger defensive performance this time.

The Maryborough Magpies could fly off the bottom rung of the ladder by beating Strathfieldsaye at Barkers Oval in Princes Park.

Both teams were outgunned by two of the league’s best in Sandhurst and Gisborne last round.

The previous showdown between Maryborough and Strathfieldsaye ended in a 60-51 for Storm at Triple M Park in Tannery Lane.

Castlemaine hosts Eaglehawk in the lower grades at Camp Reserve, but the Borough has a rest in A-grade ahead of the July 17 showdown with Maryborough at S & R Park in Eaglehawk’s Canterbury Park.

Standings in the Bendigo FNL A-grade netball competition:
