Round kicks off under North Bendigo’s lights

A SATURDAY twilight match at North Bendigo’s Atkins Street ground kicks off round 14 in the Champions IGA-backed CVFL senior women’s footy season.

North Bendigo will take on the ladder-leading Castlemaine from 5.30pm at Bendigo Club Oval in Atkins Street.

The women’s match follows a big Heathcote DFNL match between North Bendigo and Mount Pleasant.

It’s a huge task for the Jaydene Burzacott and Zak Carter-coached North Bendigo against a Castlemaine team which is nine-one in pursuit of a fourth consecutive premiership.

When these teams met in round one it was a 167-nil victory for the Jordan Cochrane-coached Castlemaine.

Teams are back in action after last weekend’s break.

In the Indigenous Round played on July 4, Castlemaine beat White Hills by 82 points as North Bendigo went down 6-100 against Eaglehawk.

Best for the Bulldogs in that match were Quetta Holloway-Jinks, Marguerita Murphy, Maddison Mansfield and Kira Gibbons.

Will be a huge task for North Bendigo’s midfield and on-ballers against their hard-running and skilful opponents.

Two matches will be played on Sunday from 1pm.

Key players in the maroon and blue include captain Ruby Campbell, Scout Carmody, Charlotte Scanlon, Letisha Stewart, Sarah Baldwin and Amanda Carrod.
