Superoos aim to cap perfect run

THE Mitiamo Superoos will aim to bound in the Bendigo Bank Loddon Valley FNL A-grade netball finals by winning Saturday’s round 18 clash with Bridgewater.

Mitiamo has home-court advantage at John Forbes Oval for the showdown with Bridgewater from 3pm.

It’s first against fourth at the home of the reigning premier.

When these clubs met in round nine it was Mitiamo which won 48-40 against the Caz Wood and Olivia Hoiles-coached Bridgewater.

Latest hit-out for the Abbey Battersby and Jess Kaur-coached Mitiamo was at Marong’s Jackal Oval in Marong for the Annette Grant Memorial Round match.

The Superoos won 76-47 against the Panthers.

As Mitiamo added to its winning streak, Bridgewater had the bye.

Fourth in the premiership race, Bridgewater could jump to the third rung by beating Mitiamo, but also needs Marong to win on Newbridge’s court.

Another big match on Saturday will be at Deepcore Drilling Riverside Oval in Newbridge where the Maroons take on Marong.

When they met at Marong in round nine it was Newbridge which claimed a 40-30 victory.

The Selina Holland and Kristy Gandy-coached Newbridge jumped to the third rung after last Saturday’s one-goal win against Bears-Lagoon Serpentine.

A Marong line-up coached by Bridget Willox will be determined to play well in the lead-up to an elimination final against Newbridge or Bridgewater.

Pyramid Hill will return to Mitchell Park to play Maiden Gully YCW Eagles.

The Bulldogs will start hot favourites to take the points.

In round nine, Pyramid Hill won on the Eagles’ court at Marist College Oval by 31 goals.

Second in the premiership race, Pyramid Hill is jointly coached by Chelsea Emmerson, Simone Edgley and Laura Herbert.

The Bulldogs dominated the round 17 clash at Calivil to win by 45 goals.

The Leisa Barry-coached Eagles fought hard to win last Saturday’s home game against Inglewood by four goals.

Calivil United faces Bears-Lagoon Serpentine at Calivil Recreation Reserve.

Both teams will be keen to end their season on a winning note.

The Cindy Portwine-coached Demons marked arguably their best game of the season in a 48-45 victory on the Bears’ court at Gadsden Finance Serpentine Reserve in round nine.

A BLS line-up jointly coached by Danielle O’Toole and Lara Clements put the heat on Newbridge in every quarter of their match in Serpentine.

At the final siren the Maroons led 40-39 in one of the games of the season.

Inglewood has the bye.
