Thrilling finishes at Pyramid Hill, Maiden Gully

THERE were thrilling finishes to Saturday’s A-grade netball matches at Pyramid Hill and Maiden Gully in Bendigo Bank Loddon Valley FNL action.

The league’s second half of the home-and-away series tipped off with margins of two and three goals respectively in home games for Pyramid Hill and Maiden Gully YCW Eagles.

Match of the round was at Pyramid Hill’s Mitchell Park where the Bulldogs took on Newbridge.

It was second against third.

Pyramid Hill fought on to score a 42-40 victory against the Maroons.

The Bulldogs drew level on 32 premiership points with Mitiamo which had the bye.

This season Pyramid Hill is coached by Chelsea Emmerson, Simone Edgley and Laura Herbert.

In round 11, Pyramid Hill will be back home at Mitchell Park to take on Marong.

Was another superb match by Newbridge which tipped off this season with a 44-51 loss to Pyramid Hill at Deepcore Drilling Oval in Newbridge’s Riverside Park.

The Selina Holland and Kristy Gandy-coached Newbridge has the bye next Saturday.

It was a top contest between Maiden Gully YCW Eagles and Calivil United in their 10th round showdown at Marist College in Maiden Gully.

Three goals separated the teams at the final siren as the Leisa Barry-coached Eagles led 45-42.

Although it did not take the points it was one of the best performances by the Cindy Portwine-coached Calivil United this season.

The Demons have a win-loss tally of two-seven rolling into next Saturday’s home game against the Superoos from Mitiamo.

Bears-Lagoon Serpentine could not halt Bridgewater’s charge to a 20-plus goal win at Gadsden Finance Serpentine Reserve.

A 65-41 win defeat has put the Danielle O’Toole and Lara Clements-coached Bears eight points behind the fifth-placed Marong.

Bridgewater bounced in fine style from an eight-goal loss at home the previous round to Mitiamo.

A score of 65 goals was the Mean Machine’s fourth-best of the season.

Bridgewater which jointly coached by Caz Wood and Olivia Hoiles will be at home next Saturday to play Maiden Gully YCW Eagles.

The Bears play at Inglewod next round.

Marong dominated play on its court at Jackal Oval in Malone Park against Inglewood.

The Bridget Willox-coached Marong won 75-26.

The Panthers strengthened their grip on the fifth rung of the ladder rolling into a round 11 clash at Pyramid Hill’s Mitchell Park.

Inglewood’s young team coached by Caitlyn Cartwright wil be at home against Bears-Lagoon Serpentine in next Saturday’s match at Centre State Scaffolding Oval.

Mitiamo had the bye.
