THE Woorinen Tigers marked another “statement game” as they thrashed Cohuna Kangas in the Radio 3SH-backed Central Murray senior footy clash on Saturday.
It was 10th consecutive victory for the Tim Free-coached Woorinen which blitzed in the first half.
Woorinen led 44-14 at quarter-time and then added another four in the second as it kept the Kangas to just three goals in the first hour.
By half-time the yellow and black led 70-20.
Defences were on top in a third quarter which went Cohuna’s way, 13-6.
The Tigers fought back to win the last, 26-8, on the way to an emphatic 102-41 victory.
Kyle Skene kicked a match-high six goals as Will Collicoat, Doug Beames and Xavier Johnson booted two each.
Only multiple goalkicker for the Kangas was Riley Hird on two.
Woorinen’s best were Jye Barry, Kyle Skene, Taylor Cameron, Zack Ryan, Henry Thompson and Matt Gardner.
Chris Anderson, Ricky Monti, Tom Toma, Hudson Fountain, Jarrod Findlay and Lachlan English were best for the Jack Geary-coached Cohuna Kangas.
An 82-point win by Mallee at Lake Boga meant the Eagles soared to the second rung at Cohuna’s expense.
Mallee led 31-10 at quarter-time and won the next two terms, 47-25 and 19-13.
A five-goal haul by Darcy Hourigan in 139-57 victory has given him an eight-goal buffer in the race for the league award.
Other multiple goalkickers for the Eagles in the Magpies’ nest were co-coach Brent Macleod on three; Brady Fordham, Darcy McGregor, Andrew Mead-Harding, Jacob O’Meara and Matthew Rankine on two.
Lake Boga’s attack was led by Nathaniel Holmes-Brown on three.
Best for Mallee Eagles were Wes Bennett, Tom McGregor, Darcy Hourigan, Jonah Devlin, Jacob O’Meara and Andrew Mead-Harding.
The Eagles have gun on-baller Harry Allen as co-coach.
Lake Boga’s best were Braden Padmore, Zac Warne, Andrew McDonald, Koben Ryan, Xavier Sherlock and Will Gardner.
The Magpies are coached by Dean Helmers.
Nyah Nyah West United overcame a slow start to beat Tooleybuc Manangatang at Manangatang by 41 points.
Faced with a two-goal deficit at quarter-time the NNWU Demons fired up to win the second term, 23-15.
By half-time Tooleybuc Manangatang led 35-31.
The reigning premier dominated most of the second half.
As the Demons scored 9.4 across the final hour they kept the Saints to a tally of 1.7.
By the final siren NNWU led 89-48 as co-coach Corey Daniels capped a fine match with three goals.
Best for the Demons who have Jason Murphy as co-coach were Ethan Saville, Dominic Gallo, Riley Daniels, Alex Birch and Joel Campbell.
Tooleybuc Manangatang’s best were Seb Rogers, Lochlan Prentice, Julian Muir, Josh Williams, Connor Mcdonald and Ethan Johnstone.
The Saints are coached by Brad Morris.
Koondrook Barham chalked up win number six in a 125-68 result against Balranald in Barham.
The Marcus Demaria-coached River Raiders led 21-13 at quarter-time and 54-37 by the long break.
A lot of play in the second half was in Koondrook Barham’s attack where it scored 11 goals.
The River Raiders worked hard to limit the Kangaroos to a tally of five goals in the second half.
Kye Attwell capped a great match with six goals for the KB line-up was Patrick Goble kicked four.
Other multiple goalkickers for the winners were Matt Bilton, three; and Roy George, two.
Balranald’s attack was led by former Western Bulldogs midfielder Roarke Smith on five and co-coach Ben Fuller on four.
Best for Koondrook Barham were Roy George, Lee Dale, Kye Attwell, Nathan O’Toole, Jacob Barrington and Isaac Corvo.
Balranald’s best were Roarke Smith, Cody Henness, Brad Hartman, Ben Fuller, Tanner Coulthard and Levi Ryan.
The Kangaroos also have Ben Mahon and Jack Salau as co-coaches.
Kerang had the bye.
The round 10 match between Swan Hill and Tyntynder was brought forward as a stand-alone match on the King’s Birthday holiday weekend.
The Swans won 49-26 under lights at Swan Hill Recreation Reserve.
