THE Tigers from Sea Lake Nandaly outran and outscored the Calder United Lions in Saturday’s second round of Goldacres North Central senior footy action.
Premiers of the past two years, Sea Lake Nandaly was fired up for its clash with the Lions who were formed by the amalagamation of Nullawil and Wycheproof Narraport.
It was the Lions who started the better and led 26-16 by quarter-time.
Although SLN won the second term, 17-15, it was Calder United which led 41-33 by the long break.
In the third quarter it was Sea Lake Nandaly which seized control at centre clearances and stopages.
The yellow and black scored 6.3 and kept the Lions to a tally of four points.
By the last change Sea Lake Nandaly led 72-45.
Defences were well on top in the last as SLN added three behinds and Calder United a solitary behind.
At the final siren Sea Lake Nandaly led 75-52.
The Tigers’ attack was led by Adam Pattison with three goals as Lachy McClelland and Tyson McKenzie added two.
Only multiple goalkickers for the Lions was Matt Wade with two.
Thomas Cox, Trent and Wade Donnan, Max Cahoon, Adam Pattison and co-coach Billy McInnes were the Tigers’ best.
Bryce Delmenico is also co-coach of Sea Lake Nandaly.
Best for the Darryl Wilson and Jordan Humphreys-coached Lions were Brent Sheahan, Daniel Watts, George Turner, Matt Wade, Steven Kennedy and Boe Bish.
Wedderburn bounced back from its first round defeat to mark a 110-38 victory on home turf at Donaldson Park against St Arnaud.
The Redbacks led 29-nil at half-time and then scored 6.5 as it kept the Saints to a goal in the second term.
It was a far more competitive showing by St Arnaud in the second half as it scored 4.8 as Wedderburn added 6.4.
Mitch Jensen was in hot form as he kicked 10 goals in a best on ground performance for the Redbacks.
Max Hungerford booted two goals for the Saints.
Best for the Tom Metherell-coached Wedderburn were Mitch Jensen, Mitch and Jackson McEwen, Jye Mortlock, Darcy Jackson and Noah Furlong.
Zac Phillips, Brad Organ, Mitch Birthisel, Jay Kirwood, Harley Durward and Daniel Gifford played well for the Scott Driscoll-coached Saints.
Birchip-Watchem Bulls charged to a 228-point win against Donald in the pen at Birchip’s George Cartwright Oval.
The Bulls scored nine goals in the first quarter and then had goal tallies of seven, 13 and eight across the next three.
Ben Edwards kicked 15 goals in a best afield performance as Joseph Reid booted 10 in the 245-17 result.
Other multiple goalkickers for the Bulls were Nicholas Rippon, four; Rhona Conboy, three; Daniel Bell, two.
Best for the Ash Connick-coached Birchip-Watchem were Ben Edwards, Joseph Reid, Hamish Hosking, Nicholas Rippon, Rhona Conboy and Cormacc Wilson.
Donald’s best were Charlie Campbell, Feeny medallist Ross Young, Kalon Green, Robert Walker, Eddie Landwehr and coach Daniel Pearce.
Boort slammed on eight goals to nil in the first quarter and then matched the feat in the second as it led 106-1 by half-time of its clash with Charlton at Boort Park.
The Magpies went on to score 33 goals in a 209-21 result.
Kayne Rutley kicked eight goals to earn best afield honours as Jhye Baddeley-Kelly kicked a team-high 10 goals to be second on the best players list.
Other multiple goalkickers for the Magpies were Peter Barbapoulos, six; James Byrne, Carlos Egan, and James Keeble, two.
Goalkickers for the Navies were Elliott Fitzpatrick, Rhys Thompson and Ashton Wood.
Best for the Dale Cameron-coached Boort included Keiren Wilson, James Keeble, Kieren Jaksic and Lachlan Hall.
Charlton’s best were Ben Lanyon, coach Mitch Collins, Ben Xiriha, Ashton Wood, Billy Sexton and Darcy McCallum.

It’s the grand final rematch between Sea Lake Nandaly and Birchip Watchem on April 26 at Sea Lake when round three kicks off at 2.30pm.
