ULTIMA broke Hay’s unbeaten streak in Saturday’s round eight clash in Golden Rivers senior footy.
Beaten by Hay in the rematch of the ’24 grand finalists in round three by 41 points it was Ultima which dominated the latest showdown at home.
The Kangaroos led 29-14 at quarter-time in Ultima and then scored six goals as it kept the ladder-leading Hay to a major in the second.
Hay hit back to win the third term, 27-25, but it was Ultima which held a 44-point buffer going into the last term.
Corey Grey kicked a match-high five goals as Ryan Devereux added two in what was a 113-63 victory for the Kangaroos.
Other multiple goalkickers for Ultima were Lachlan Bull, three, and co-coach Mitch Seton-Stewart on two.
Hay’s attack was led by Jack Headon and Declan Watson with three each.
Best for Ultima were Thomas Bull, Darcy Farrell, Corey Grey, Josh Dwyer, Lachlan Bull and Zac Cattlin.
It was a superb bounce-back by Ultima which has Kyle Symons as co-coach from an eight-point loss to Moulamein the previous round.
Best for Hay were Jack Cattanach, Hugh Crighton, Declan Watson, Dylan Collis, Joel Crocker and Fergus Cattanach.
The Lions are jointly coached by Jason Aylett and James Moran.
A 20-point win by Murrabit at Wandella has put the Blues in third place on the ladder.
Murrabit raced to a 44-17 lead by half-time.
An evenly-fought second half went the way of Wandella, 38-31.
The Jack Shannahan-coached Murrabit had the in-form Adam Thomson kick three goals as Bailey Pengelly and James Stewart chipped in with two in a 75-55 victory.
Wandella had seven goalkickers.
Best for Murrabit were Ben Derbas, Jack Shannahan, Ethan Slater, James Stewart, Bailey Pengelly and Sam Copland.
Adam Ward, John Cooper, Gregor Knight, Nathan Boysen, coach Justin Robinson and Connor Carter were best for the Bombers.
Moulamein took the momentum from its win in Ultima into the home game against Macorna.
The Swans won every quarter on their way to a 140-76 victory.
A tally of 40 scoring shots as the visitors had 21 was a sign of Moulamein’s dominance.
The Swans finished on 20.20 as Adam Saunders kicked five goals and William Doquile added three.
Other multiple goalkickers for the red and white were Hayden Dalitz, Blake Launer and Mitch Ryan on two.
Leading goalkickers for Macorna were Ryan Dee, Will Longstaff, Josh Walters and Toby Whinfield on two.
Best for Moulamein were Adam Saunders, Ely Miller, Morgan Turvey, Tobie Richardson, Angus Crowe and Mitchell Ryan.
A three-five record has the Brodie Tonkin and Hayden Dalitz-coached Swans in fifth place and a win and four per cent behind Wandella.
Macorna’s best were Josh Berryman, Josh Walters, Blake Forster, Matt Angel, Reece Wissell and Ryan Dee.
The Tigers have Paul Longstaff and Shaun Haffenden as co-coaches.

In next Saturday’s ninth round it will be Murrabit on home turf for a 2.25pm showdown with Moulamein.
Hay and Wandella meet in the Lions’ den at Hay Recreation Reserve.
Macorna hosts Ultima in the clash of the Tigers and Kangaroos.
