The Bendigo Umpires Association Board, Life Members and Members were saddened to
hear the news today on the passing of 1800 game veteran, Life Member and much-loved
Member Tim Donnelly.
A stalwart of all football throughout Central Victoria, there would not be many who had not
umpired with Tim or been umpired by Tim. His dedication to umpiring football saw him
travelling around the vast area of the region.
Tim was a BUA Life Member from 1996, a Best Clubman in 1986 and had recently umpired
his 1800th match. He attended training each Tuesday and Thursday and became the Social
Club barman each Thursday night. A mentor to many young umpires who have gone onto
AFL/VFL.
He will be sorely missed. Condolences to his sister Irene and family.
