Wandella jumps to third rung on ladder

THE Wandella Bombers jumped to the third rung on the Golden Rivers senior footy ladder after Saturday’s win against Moulamein.

The Justin Robinson-coached Bombers were in control for most of the home game against the Swans.

Wandella led 51-35 at half-time and then scored 3.8 as it kept Moulamein to a tally of two behinds in the third quarter.

Mitch Collins kicked a match-high four goals as Nathan Boysen added three in a best on ground performance as the Bombers marked a 102-53 victory.

Moulamein’s attack was led by Dylan Flanagan on three goals.

Best for Wandella were Nathan Boysen, Archer Lancaster, John Cooper, Darcy Ramage, Jack Radcliffe and Seth Hall.

William Doquile, Josh Wills, William Gibson, Ethan Fitzpatrick, Brodie Tonkin and Dylan Flanagan were best for the Swans.

Moulamein is jointly coached by Brodie Tonkin and Hayden Dalitz.

It was 21-all at quarter-time of the Murrabit and Ultima match on Murrabit’s turf.

From there it was Ultima which seized control.

The Kangaroos won the second term, 29-1, and then added 6.5 as it kept the Blues to just five points in the third quarter.

Matt Taverna finished with four goals as Thomas Isma kicked three in a 121-36 victory.

Other multiple goalkickers for the Roos were Jack Delmenico, Ryan Devereux, Corey Grey and co-coach Mitch Seton-Stewart on two.

Murrabit’s attack was led by Adam Thomson with two.

Best for Ultima were Ricky Wild, Mitch Seton-Stewart, Ryan Featherby, Thomas Isma, Zac Cattlin and Jack Delmenico.

The Kangaroos have Kyle Symons as co-coach.

Murrabit’s best were Patrick Bryan, Ben Derbas, Bailey Pengelly, Jacob Wade, Pras Sayakhot and Austin McKerrow.

The Blues are coached by Jack Shannahan.

Macorna was on home turf against Hay in the clash of the Tigers and Lions.

Last season’s runner-up, Hay led 16-nil at quarter-time and 37-14 by the main break.

The Lions went on to kick 12 goals in an 83-29 victory.

The in-form Jack Headon kicked four goals for Hay as Kenneth Jubb added two.

Macorna’s attack was led by Josh Walters on two.

Best for the Jason Aylett and James Moran-coached Hay were Fergus Cattanach, Dean Aylett, Joel Crocker, Simon Bunyan, Brad Pocock and Daniel Stewart.

Macorna’s best were Harley Somerville, Cooper Carmichael, Shaun Haffenden, Connor Burge, Hunter Anset and Josh Walters.

Paul Longstaff and Shaun Haffenden have teamed up to coach the Tigers this season.

In next Saturday’s sixth round it’s Wandella at home against Ultima from 2.25pm.

Moulamein meets Hay in the clash of the Swans and Lions.

Murrabit has home-ground advantage against Macorna as fourth faces sixth.
