EAGLEHAWK takes on the ladder-leading Golden Square in Friday night’s start to round 12 in the Champions IGA-backed CVFL senior women’s footy competition.
The Hawks and Bulldogs will play at C and M Oval in Eaglehawk’s Canterbury Park from 7.30pm.
It’s a huge challenge for the Molly Metcalf-coached Eaglehawk as Golden Square won the most recent clash between the clubs in round eight by 83 points.
Hawks’ defenders Ellie Bailey, Alannah Leech and Lexie Moss will be up against the in-form Gabby Drage, Kate Douglass and Kira Gibbons.
In the on-ball duels the Two Blues will look to Molly Metcalf, Lucy El Hage and Monique Gavriliadis to set up plenty of attacks.
A strong on-ball group for the Darren Walsh-coached Golden Square includes Dani Jeffery, Gemma Roberts and Ava Barker.
An Eaglehawk attack led by Grace Edlin, Courtney Coffey and Hannah Kenny will not have it easy against Taylah Moore, Liz Watkins and Lauren Knight.
Two matches will be played on Sunday from 1pm.
Sandhurst faces White Hills at Queen Elizabeth Oval in Bendigo’s View Street.
In round eight it was the Dragons who fired up for a 75-2 victory at Scott Street in White Hills.
Sandhurst scored a 68-point win against Eaglehawk in last Sunday’s match at the QEO.
In-form players for the maroon and blue include Isabella Ayre, Samantha Johnston, and Grace, Lily and Ruby Campbell.
The Dragons’ line-up includes Sarah Baldwin, Taylah Klemm, Chelsea Reeves and Maddy White.
A Sandhurst team jointly coached by Liam Ireland and Andrew Saladino is third on the ladder.
White Hills is back in action after Marong forfeited last Sunday’s match with the Demons.
The red and black scored 27 goals in the 10th round against Bendigo Thunder, but defensive pressure from Sandhurst will be much higher.
Players to watch for the red and black include Tracey Anderson, Courtney Collard, Acacia and Chelsea Edwards, Ella Henery, Sasha Pearce and Tanika Thompson.
The Demons are coached by Sharni Barker and Allara Jackson.
Wedge-Tailed Eagles are back on their turf at Woodend’s Racecourse Reserve to play Bendigo Thunder.
The Phil Hawkes-coached Eagles beat Thunder by 25 goals in round four.
Key players for the Eagles include Teagan Ainslie, Jorja Bennett, Brooke Cowan, Aisha Mansfield, Mairead Murphy, Ayesha Nicholson and Emma Williams.
It’s been a tough season for the Mick McInnes-coached Thunder which has won two matches.
Players to watch for Thunder include Stacey Barbagallo, Sharlene Cole, Ngaire Harlan, Hollie Maher, Shasta Martion, Katrina Murphy and Rachel Salm.
Marong has forfeited to Castlemaine.
The Panthers and Magpies were scheduled to play at Jackal Oval in Marong’s Malone Park.
