Bombers fight to gain edge against Tigers

AS LIKELY first semi opponents, Wandella and Macorna will fight for the points and psychological edge when they meet in Saturday’s 11th round of senior footy in the Golden Rivers season.

Wandella has home ground advantage as the Bombers take on the Tigers from 2.25pm.

When they met in round six the Bombers fought on for a 78-75 victory at the Wandella hangar.

Teams are back in action after last Saturday’s general bye.

In round 10, Wandella went down to Hay by 76 points as Macorna was on the end of an 83-8 drubbing on Ultima’s turf.

Key players for Wandella include Russell Rich, Laing Waddingham, Logan Keighran, Tim Robinson, Jarred Schlitz, Kaine O’Connell and Michael Rowe.

Macorna will look to Laing and Sam Whinfield, Travis Mercadante, Malcolm Neiwand, Lachlan Ritchie and Fergus Bear to lead the way to victory.

Murrabit is on home turf against the unbeaten Hay.

Massive test for the Blues who were beaten by 137 points when they tackled the Lions in round six.

The Murrabit team for this Saturday includes co-captains Ben Gillingham and Nathan O’Toole in the ruck and centre respectively.

The Blues will also look for big games from the likes of Jordan Lampi, Jack Shannahan, Patrick Bryan, Rhys Carmichael, Ryan Manning  and Toby Gray.

In-form players for Hay include ruck-rover Jacob Watson, centreman Jack Cattanach, Jensen Hargreaves and Declan Watson in attack, rover Jack Headon, and Daniel Stewart at half-back.

The Lions also have Brad Pocock, James Moran, Kenneth Jubb and Dean Aylett.

It’s the Swans against the Kangaroos as Moulamein hosts Ultima.

In the previous round Moulamein finished within four points of Murrabit as Ultima thrashed Macorna.

Back in round six it was Ultima which marked a 109-56 victory against the Swans.

The Kangaroos’ line-up bound for Moulamein includes Ryan Featherby, Thomas Bull, Jayden Kiel, Ricky Wild, Lincoln Frost, Mitch Makepeace and Ryan Devereux.

Moulamein’s team includes Hunter Hartland in the ruck, Andrew May in the centre, Ely Miller and Heath Moloney in attack, Mark Drotsky, William Gibson and Cody Storm in defence.
