Charlton ties contest with Wycheproof-Narraport
AN 88-ALL draw was played out between Charlton and Wycheproof-Narraport in Saturday’s 13th round of the Goldacres North Central senior footy action.
The Mitch Collins-coached Charlton looked to be on the brink of ending its winless run as it led 75-46 at a quarter to play.
The third term was clearly the Navies best of the season as they turned a three-point deficit at half-time into a 29-point lead after scoring 6.4 to 1.2 in the third.
A desperate Demons’ team coached by Wayne Mitrovic fought back brilliantly.
Wycheproof-Narraport scored seven straight goals as Charlton added 2.1 in the final term.
At the siren the teams were locked on identical scores of 13.10 (88).
Charlton’s attack was led by Kris Clifford and Bailey Kemp on four and three goals.
Rick Allan, Josh Grabowski, Wayne Mitrovic and Maysen Murgov all kicked two goals for the Demons.
Best for Charlton were Thomas Finlay, Ben Lanyon, Sam Woods, Patrick Soulsby, Rhyen Woods and Jesse Taylor.
Koby Hommelhoff, Robert and Morgan Fawcett, Josh Grabowski, Cody Green and Dane McLennan were Wycheproof-Narraport’s best.
Sea Lake Nandaly broke Birchip-Watchem’s unbeaten run and in the process moved to the top of the ladder.
The Bryce Delmenico and Billy McInnes-coached SLN Tigers took charge in the second half of the match at Sea Lake.
Goalkicking accuracy was an outstanding feature of Birchip-Watchem’s play as it scored 7.1 in the first half to lead by a goal at the break.
The Tigers lifted their pressure and run in the third.
As Sea Lake Nandaly added three goals it held the Bulls to a tally of two behinds.
Led by the play of Kane Donnan, Jack Poulton and Luke Martin, Sea Lake Nandaly kicked away.
The Tigers won the last, 34-13, to complete a 90-58 victory.
Josh Jenkins kicked a team-high five goals for SLN as Tyson McKenzie added two.
The Bulls’ attack was led by Ben Edwards on five goals.
Best for the Tigers included Wade Donnan, Charlie Cox and Billy McInnes.
Jacob Noonan, Hamish Hosking, Darcy and Joseph Reid, Angus Butterfield and Ty Colbert were best for the Trevor Ryan-coached Bulls.
Nullawil scored a 70-point won on St Arnaud’s ground at Lord Nelson Park.
The Daryl Wilson-coached Nullawil led 26-3 at quarter-time and then scored four goals as it kept the Saints scoreless in the second.
Mitch Farmer went on to kick a match-high five goals as Rylee Smith, Tiger Vearing, Matt Wade added two each in a 100-30 victory.
The Saints’ attack was led by Josh Hicks on two.
Best for Nullawil were Dean Putt, Ben Brennan, Kyle Doran, Adam Thomson, Mitch Farmer and David Isbister.
Daniel Gifford, Jake Male, Mitch Egan, Bailey Nicholas, Zac Phillips and Kurtis Torney played well for the Scott Driscoll-coached Saints.
Wedderburn was in control for most of its home game against Boort at Donaldson Park.
The Redbacks led 25-10 at quarter-time and 58-30 by the long break.
A closely-fought second half went Wedderburn’s way, 42-34 as it marked a 100-64 victory.
Tom Campbell kicked five goals in a best afield performance for the Redbacks as Oscar Holt and Junior Miller finished with four majors.
Boort’s attack was led by James Keeble on four as Kieren Jaksic kicked two.
Best for the Tom Metherell-coached Wedderburn included Jackson and Mitch McEwen, Oscar Holt, Noah Furlong and Junior Miller.
Tom Potter, James Keeble, James Wilson, Jack Smith, Alex Chamberlain and Jacob Coleman were best for the Dale Cameron-coached Magpies.
Donald had the bye.
