BJFL Round 11 Review – Kangaroo Flat

Kangaroo Flat’s joeys keep on kicking on

KANGAROO Flat’s rising stars played well across the weekend’s 11th round in the Bendigo Bank Bendigo Junior Football League season.

The BJFL clubs were back on field after a rest the previous Saturday for school holidays.

This season Kangaroo Flat is represented by seven teams.

The Joeys compete in under-12 girls, under-12C, under-16 reserves, and field two teams in the under-14 division, and two line-ups in under-15 girls.

A nine-two record has Kangaroo Flat leading the under-15 girls reserves division ladder.

The Roos won last Sunday’s match against Marong at East West Oval in Marong’s Malone Park by 16 goals.

Kangaroo Flat led 57-nil at half-time and finished on a score of 14.18 (102).

Matilda Rose kicked five goals as Ava Ahearn booted three and London Benaim and Grace Rich-Jones chipped in with two each.

Best for Kangaroo Flat were Taya Keetelaar, Melanie White, Ava Ahearn, Grace Rich-Jones and Kayla Guthrie.

The Roos had the bye in the under-15 girls seniors competition.

The round kicked off with Friday night’s under-12 girls matches at Mercy Junortoun Sports Precinct.

Kangaroo Flat was up against Mount Pleasant.

It was the Blues from Toolleen who scored a 161-6 victory.

Willow Wright goaled for the Roos as Hailee Hull, Elleah Gray, Isla Gibson, Willow Wright, Scarlett Nelson and Mia Trembath were best.

Kangaroo Flat scored a three-goal win against Eaglehawk in the under-12C match played on the Roos’ ground at Dower Park on Saturday.

The Roos led 15-14 at a quarter to play and then scored three straight goals in the last to complete a 33-15 victory.

Goalkickers for the Flat included Maddox Lower, Roary Pearson and Eli Vance.

Best for the Roos included Maddox Lower, Roman Grinter, Mark Downes and Levi Bish.

Kangaroo Flat travelled to Rochester’s Windridge Oval on Sunday for the under-14 reserves, division one match.

The Roos scored a 51-point victory in Tigers’ territory.

At the end of a closely-fought first half Kangaroo Flat led 24-20.

A tally of 4.2 as it kept Rochester scoreless in the third gave the Flat a five-goal buffer going into the last.

Astin Clayton and Zac Nicholls finished on three goals each as Seb Sharpe added two in a 71-20 victory.

Best for Kangaroo Flat were Mitchell Pitson, Oliver Bird, Max Gould, Seb Sharpe, Astin Clayton and Harley Nelson.

Kangaroo Flat was at home against Golden Square in the under-14 reserves, division three match.

After leading 24-13 at half-time, Golden Square charged away for an 86-16 win.

Goalkickers for the Roos were Jaidee Leech and Tyson Penrose.

Best for Kangaroo Flat were Jaidee Leech, Raphael Giudice, Austin Wiegard, Rydder Gudge, Chayse Wood and Reece Whyman.
