Bombers fight for victory at Moulamein

WANDELLA capped a brilliant final quarter fightback to score a seven-point victory at Moulamein in Saturday’s 13th round of the Golden Rivers senior footy action.

The Bombers were down 60-45 at a quarter to play in the Swans’ nest.

Wandella lifted its play dramatically to score three goals and kept Moulamein scoreless in the last term.

At the final siren the red and black led 67-60.

Justin Robinson capped a best afield performance with five goals for Wandella as Jayden Crellin chipped in with two.

Moulamein’s attack was led by Lochlan Prentice, four; and James White, two.

Best for Wandella were Justin Robinson, Connor Wilson, Jarred Schlitz, Sam Taylor, Oliver Macartney and Jayden Crellin.

Moulamein’s best were Xander Hartland, Will Gibson, Rodney Reeves, Heath Moloney, Lochlan Prentice and Morgan Turvey.

Top teams Hay and Ultima marked big wins against Macorna and Murrabit respectively.

At Murrabit the Kangaroos from Ultima turned a nine-point lead at quarter-time into a 46-point buffer by the long break after they scored 6.3 to just two behinds in the second term.

Ultima won the third, 21-nil, and then added 5.5 to a point in the last to complete a 117-16 victory.

Ryan Devereux, Jay Reynolds and Matt Taverna all kicked four goals as Thomas Bull and Corey Grey added two.

Best for Ultima were Jake Foster, Mitchell Seton-Stewart, Cameron Johnson, Matt Taverna, Jay Reynolds and Caillum Brady.

Sam Copland, Rhys Carmichael, Dean Harrop, Ryan Manning, Michael Grant and Jett Funnell were best for the Blues.

The Hay Lions romped to a 161-point win in their den against the Macorna Tigers.

The reigning champions led 32-nil at quarter-time and then slammed on 12 goals in the second to lead 110-7 at the long break.

Hay won the next two terms, 36-7 and 35-6.

Declan Watson kicked eight goals and Jack Cattanach added five in a 181-20 result.

Other multiple goalkickers for the Lions were Kenneth Jubb, four; Daniel Zambon, three; Jack Headon and Jacob Watson, two.

Goalkickers for the Blues were Hunter Anset, Josh Berryman and Lachlan Ritchie.

Hay’s best were Jack Cattanach, Jack Headon, James Moran, Angus Gardiner, Bentley Murphy and Joel Crocker.

Macorna’s best were Xavier Wishart, Kurt Forder, Lachlan Ritchie, Hunter Anset, Reegan O’Rourke and Malcolm Neiwand.
