Machine outplays Blues at Bridgewater

BRIDGEWATER marked a 14-goal victory against Inglewood in Saturday’s 12th round of senior footy in the Bendigo Bank Loddon Valley FNL season.

It was a hot start by the Mean Machine on home turf as it raced to a six-goal lead by quarter-time.

Bridgewater led 63-18 by the long break and the pressure and run did not ease up.

Coach and gun forward Lachie Sharp went on to kick seven goals as Oscar McKinley and Oliver Watt booted four and two majors in a 121-37 victory.

The Fergus Payne-coached Inglewood did plenty of attacking, but a tally of 4.13 let the Blues down.

Best for Bridgewater were Nic Naughton, Lachie Sharp, Harry and Oscar McKinley, Darcy Ferguson and Josh Martyn.

The Blues’ best were Liam Marciano, Bregon Cotchett, Cody Stobaus, Harry Veitch, Daniel Polack and Lachlan Ford.

A four-point victory meant Maiden Gully YCW Eagles climbed to the ladder’s fifth rung.

The Eagles trailled by margins of two, eight and three points at the first three breaks in the clash on Newbridge’s turf at Deepcore Drilling Riverside Oval.

A high-scoring final quarter was won by the Eagles, 32-25, to clinch a 94-90 victory.

Todd Delahey led Maiden Gully YCW’s attack on four goals as co-coach and former Essendon and Port Adelaide forward/mid Angus Monfries slotted three goals.

Tyler James chipped in with two majors as the Eagles record became four wins, a draw, six defeats.

Newbridge’s Billy Schilling capped a fine match with four goals as Brandon Dimech and Jed Zimmer added three each.

Best for the Eagles were Daniel Russell, Mitch Hill, Josh Worsley, Todd Delahey, Ed Crisp and Mitchell Lines.

Maiden Gully YCW has Shawn Filo as non-playing co-coach.

Best for Newbridge were Ben McKinley, Andrew Padbury, Jed Zimmer, Will Copland, Billy Schilling and Jack Teasdale.

The Maroons are coached by Matt McArthur.

Top teams Marong and Pyramid Hill marked big wins against Calivil United and Mitiamo respectively.

It was victory number 11 as the unbeaten Marong dominated play on its turf at Jackal Oval in Malone Park against the Calivil United Demons.

The Sam Maher-coached Demons made a great start to be within 16 points of the Panthers at quarter-time.

From there Marong went on to score 16.10 as Calivil United added 1.2 across the last three quarters.

Ryley Taylor was in superb touch as he kicked seven goals in the 132-18 victory.

Other multiple goalkickers for Marong were Michael Bradbury, four; Jimmy Gadsden, Corey Gregg and Noah McCaig on two.

Best for Marong were Jimmy Gadsden, Matt Willox, Ryley Taylor, Ben Gregg, Lachlan Lee and Billy Stewart.

The Panthers have Kain Robins, playing, and Paul Thomson, non-playing, as coaches in their pursuit of a fourth consecutive premiership.

Calivil United’s best were Mitch Stephens, Jake Lawry, Riley Walsh, Ronan Sheehan, Henry McCarthy and Jack Maher.

Pyramid Hill scored 25 goals against Mitiamo on the Superoos’ turf at John Forbes Oval.

The Nathan Fitzpatrick-coached Bulldogs scored seven goals in the opening term and had gained a 63-point lead by half-time.

It was all Pyramid Hill in the final hour as the Bulldogs added 13 goals and kept Mitiamo to a tally of four behinds.

Gun recruit Ben Bisset booted 10 goals as Mitch Cheesman and Ben Knight added three each.

The Bulldogs had nine players boot a goal.

Mitiamo’s attack was led by Seth Wright on two.

Ruckman Lachlan Sidebottom was best afield as Ben Bisset, Ben Knight, Harrison Goodes, Gavin James and Bailey George also starred for the Bulldogs.

Mitiamo’s best were Matt Gilmour, Zak Myers, Cody Tuohey, Dylan Marshman, coach Luke Lougoon and Tyler Rasmussen.

Bears-Lagoon  Serpentine had the bye.

Inglewood will play Newbridge on the Blues’ turf at Centre State Scaffolding Oval.

Pyramid Hill and Bears-Lagoon Serpentine will fight for the points in the Bulldogs’ kennel at Mitchell Park.

Calivil United has the bye.
