Roos tackle Blues at Ultima

A CLASH between second and third-placed Ultima and Murrabit highlights this Saturday’s 10th round of senior footy in the Golden Rivers league.

Ultima will have home-ground advantage as it takes on the Blues from 2.25pm.

When these clubs met in round five it was the Kangaroos who dominated in a 121-36 victory on Murrabit’s turf.

A win-loss tally of seven-two has Ultima on the second rung.

The Roos marked a 53-point win at Macorna last Saturday as Zac Cattlin, Caillum Brady, Matt Taverna and Ryan Devereux were best.

Ultima’s team to tackle the Blues includes Ryan Featherby, Thomas Isma, Jye Purtill and co-coach Thomas Isma.

Ultima also has Kyle Symons as co-coach as it chases back-to-back premierships.

The Jack Shannahan-coached Murrabit is in form.

Latest hit-out for the Blues ended in a 55-point victory at home against Moulamein as Adam Thomson kicked six goals and Joseph Zambelli booted four.

Players to watch for Murrabit include Ben Derbas, captain Ben Gillingham, James Russo, Ethan Slater and James Stewart.

The Blues’ squad includes Sam Copland, Bryden Morison, Jack Keath and Michael Zambelli.

It will be a big clash at Wandella as the Bombers take on Moulamein.

Victory for the Justin Robinson-coached Wandella will strengthen its place in the top four.

The Bombers start this round eight per cent and a win clear of the fifth-placed Moulamein.

In round five Wandella beat the Swans in the hangar by 49 points.

The Bombers played well to finish within seven points in the den of the Hay Lions last Saturday.

Best for the Bombers were Connor Jamieson, Connor Carter, Jarred Schlitz and Justin Robinson.

Wandella’s line-up for this match includes Jarred Schlitz, Sam Taylor, Tanner Treacy, Laing Waddingham and Adam Ward.

Moulamein will be determined to hit back after a nine-goal loss at Murrabit.

Swans’ co-coach Hayden Dalitz kicked two goals in that contest as Jayden Haeusler, Trae Atkinson, Ely Miller and Will Gibson were best.

Moulamein’s squad which has Brodie Tonkin as co-coach includes captain Xander Hartland, Morgan Turvey, Heath Moloney and Ruan Drotsky.

It’s the Lions against the Tigers as Hay hosts Macorna.

When they met in round five Hay won in the Tigers’ den by nine goals.

Key players for Hay include ruckman and co-coach James Moran, Dean Aylett, Fergus and Jack Cattanach, Jack Stewart, Jack Headon and Cooper Scott.

The Lions also have Jason Aylett as co-coach in their pursuit of a second premiership in three seasons.

Pressure will be the key for Macorna, especially when Hay has the footy.

Connor Burge led Macorna’s attack on two goals last round as Tori Ferguson, Luke Gray, Reece Wissell and Broden Wishart were best.

A Tigers line-up jointly coached by Paul Longstaff and Shaun Haffenden includes Jackson Fry, Hunter Anset, Ryan Dee and Blake Forster.
