Mixed run for young Bloods

IT WAS  mixed run of results for South Bendigo across last weekend’s 11th round in the Bendigo Junior Football League season.

The Bloods are fielding 10 teams in a league which is proudly supported by Bendigo Bank, Champions IGA, and Cavalier Homes.

The Bendigo JFL kicked off in 1958 and is where hundreds of talented boys and girls first played Aussie Rules.

Among the weekend’s highs for South Bendigo was a 75-6 victory for Red against Marong Blue in the under-12 Girls match played on Friday night at Eaglehawk’s Canterbury Park.

The round kicked off with Friday night’s under-12 Girls matches at Eaglehawk’s Canterbury Park, Ewing Park in Bendigo, White Hills, and Rochester’s Windridge Oval.

South Bendigo Red led 33-6 at half-time and then scored 11.6 in the next two quarters against the Panthers.

Mackinnon Murphy and Leila Pellegrino kicked three goals each as Bailey Matthews booted two.

Best for South Bendigo were Leila Pellegrino, Mackinnon Murphy, Harmony Owen, Bailey Matthews, Maddison Parsons and Arlie Brown.

It was a bye for South Bendigo White in the under-12 Girls competition.

It was showdown between St Therese’s Sharks and the South Bendigo Bloods in the under-12A match at Ewing Park on Saturday.

The Sharks won 44-16.

Goalkickers for South Bendigo were Henry Macnee and Louis Thornton.

Best for the Bloods were Lenny Moroni, Harry Shedrick, Percy Waterman, Taj Williams and Harrison Adams.

At under-12C level, South Bendigo played White Hills in the Demons’ den in Scott Street, White Hills.

The Demons won 48-1 as Felix Pollock, Tait Taruvinga, Hunter Fitzallen, Ethan Shea, Ed White and Navarra Blake were South Bendigo’s best.

The Bloods won the under-12D match against White Hills in White Hills by nine points.

Jevan DeAraugo, Louis Fyffe and Sonny Rodda were on target in a 20-11 win for the red and white.

Best for South Bendigo were Sonny Rodda, Louis Fyffe, Jevan DeAraugo, Kye Roberts and Thomas Gould.

In the under-14 seniors competition it was South Bendigo against Strathfieldsaye on Enterprise Oval in Strathfieldsaye’s Tannery Lane.

The Storm line-up surged to a 55-15 win.

Dustin Hill and Kyah Weeks kicked South Bendigo’s goals as Tarkyn Ralphs, Tyson Floreani, Callan McCarthy, Wesley Scholtes, Callum Fyffe and Jed King were best.

The Bloods marked a 92-25 win against Maiden Gully YCW Eagles in the under-14 reserves, division one match at Marist College in Maiden Gully.

Finn Cullen led the attack on four goals as Patrick Ingram booted three.

Other multiple goalkickers for South Bendigo were Will Shadbolt and Flynn Todd on two.

Best for the Bloods were Hardy McClure, Harry Hardingham, Finn Cullen, Patrick Ingram, Flynn Todd and Dustin Hill.

South Bendigo was in hot form in the under-14 reserves, division two match against Eaglehawk played on the Bloods’ ground at Harry Trott Oval in Kennington’s Neale Street.

The young Bloods won 120-14.

Andeon Haasbroek kicked three goals and was best on ground as Hunter Clementon, Brant McRory, Arch Stacey added three majors each and Connor Olsen chipped in with two.

Best for the Bloods included Hunter Clementson, Arch Stacey, Paul Watson Jr, Davy Huddleston and Brant McRory.

In the under-16 seniors competition, South Bendigo played Strathfieldsaye on Storm’s turf at Enterprise Oval in Tannery Lane.

Storm won 88-47 as Riley Davey, Miller Flett, Thomas Henderson, Max Kornmann, Noah Poole and Zavier Ralphs all kicked a goal for the Bloods.

Best for South Bendigo were Rylan Newman, Miller Flett, Zavier Ralphs, Charlie Cook, Noah Poole and Max Kornmann.

It was South Bendigo against Strathfieldsaye in the under-16 reserves, division one match at Enteprise Oval.

Storm marked an 87-19 victory.

Ryder Marriott kicked both of South Bendigo’s goals and was in the best along with Louis Miller, Hamish Worme, Zaviar Mills, Luca Tresize and Cade McKay.

Bendigo JFL clubs have a rest next weekend because of school holidays.

The season resumes on the weekend of July 18-20 when round 12 matches will be contested.
